Are people where you live starting to decorate for Christmas? I’ve seen quite a few houses in our area going all out already- and hey, I get it. It’s been a hard year and somehow Christmas lights make all your troubles feel a little better.” I’ve resisted the urge to put out all of our decorations, but we did put out the Christmas lights on the front porch, and we have a big turkey inflatable out in the yard. I keep intending to make a pretty Thanksgiving sign for our door, but I’ve had quite a few orders to work on this week- so I’m just going to keep up my Hocus Pocus door sign from Halloween, like it’s totally normal. Maybe I’ll get around to it in the coming week. If I don’t…well there is always next year, right? At least my Christmas sign is done.
I would have had slightly higher earnings this week, as I got an order from my brother for stencils (he’s a paint guy and he wanted to spruce up his motorcycle). Rather than have him pay me, I made the stencils and told him to consider it part of his Christmas gift. I love doing things like this- he gets what he wants, I get to give him something I know he wants and will use, and one of my hard to shop for folks just got considerably easier.
Dinner this week is going to consist of a lot of leftovers. My mom was able to come visit for the first time since March, so we went ahead and did Thanksgiving yesterday, courtesy of the awesome free Thanksgiving dinner from Ibotta. We still have a lot of goodies leftover, so we’ll enjoy tons of turkey. Also slated for this week is a freezer clean out. I stocked up where I could when there were shortages and we didn’t know what we’d find from week to week. Well, we’re still having some shortages here, but meat and freezer foods don’t seem to be going anywhere (although I’d give my kingdom for a roma tomato right now. It’s been three weeks since I’ve seen one in my local store!). We need to make sure to eat what we have so nothing goes bad or ends up freezer burnt. The grocery budget will love that!
