I’ve got some trip news! After googling, and studying maps, and googling some more and considering travel times, costs, etc- we’ve decided not to add Scotland or Germany to our trip. Insert sad face here.
Instead, we’re adding Belgium and Luxembourg! Basically it boils down to- we could go to Scotland or Germany and lose an entire day in travel, or we can go to these two other countries which are basically day trips from Paris, rack up two new countries, and hope some day we can make it back to visit new places! I’m a little sad, I won’t lie- and maybe I can still work it to where we can squeeze something else in, but I also don’t want to try to cram so much in that we really don’t DO anything, or we end up doing a rush job. That’s why the day trips are ideal with the little kiddo, who will be a bigger kiddo by the time this trip comes to fruition in a few years. It will also be a little easier not to have that extra flight thrown in, complete with hauling all our luggage! It’s one less hotel to find as well. So my plan is to hit London first, spend some time there, do a day trip or two to see some special sights, then we’ll go to Paris. From Paris we’ll explore, visit Belgium and Luxembourg, and then head to Disneyland Paris for our last two days (or so) before heading home. Nothing is finalized of course because we’re so far away but it’s nice to get some details planned!
I’ve decided rather than try to price everything now and try to guess what the prices will be in a few years, etc, I’m just going to set my goal high. High high. High like looking at the number makes me wants to throw up just a teensy bit. Big dollars are needed for a big trip though and I absolutely don’t want to get there and have to say “No” when it comes to anything we want to do. I don’t want to weigh this amazing museum against that amazing museum because I didn’t budget enough. So let’s do this thing. I’ve chosen $15,000 for our family of three, and I’ll firm that number up more as we actually get closer to the trip. Worst case scenario, I have a heck of head start on my next saving goal!
Mercari & Prolific were the top earners this week! I was happy to get a Swagbucks cash out and I expect another one this month. I love waiting and cashing out for the discounted gift cards. That extra savings really helps towards the next goal and I like feeling like I’m getting a deal.
