How is everyone holding up? My husband finally got tired of his quarantine hair this week. He needed a haircut when COVID-19 first appeared, but we adopted the “wait and see” approach, then everything shut down. Luckily for him, I still had my old dog clippers in the garage. Now he’s feeling better and I’m paying myself $15, what he would have spent on a hair cut. Straight to the fund y’all! I don’t think this will become a regular thing for us, but it feels good to have been able to help him out. He was complaining about not being able to sleep because his hair was too thick and it got in his ears. Men, y’all. They are crazy.
I saw this meme this week and man, isn’t that the truth? I’ve been working on getting a handle on my spending. It’s mostly been for things around the house. We opened our pool up this year for the first time and man, pools are expensive. We’re also having to buy new pool cleaning items, safety ropes, a storage box- it adds up! Everything seems to take a ton of time shipping- or like happened just today, (TWICE) you order something and it’s out of stock, the website just didn’t reflect it. The upside to that is it’s hard to make impulse purchases when the transactions get cancelled. We’re considering making a large upfront upgrade to the pool pump or maybe the system entirely, to cut SIGNIFICANT dollars off our electricity and pool chemicals bill. I think it would pay off in electricity use in just a season. The system change might take 2-3 years to pay off in power/chemical savings, but it is what it is. Lots to think about, and many experts to consult!
This week I discovered that I can get Ibotta rebates doing my online Walmart grocery orders! That’s a bit of good news, I earned a dollar. Unfortunately I’m still too far away from cash out for it to really matter for this week, but yayyy for getting a little something back!
I talked to Tim about the future trip, and we definitely want to spend at least some of it on property. We also have a timeshare, so maybe we’ll do the first night or two at the timeshare, move to Disney property to enjoy the parks, do several nights there, back off property and then do universal for a few days. It’s a great way save some dollars, especially since the fees are built into my budget. Do I recommend getting a timeshare? No. But that ship has sailed for us, so we might as well get some use out of it. Right now I am thinking 2 days at universal, but you know how they run those “buy 2 days, get 2 days” type specials, so my fingers are crossing we can get more days free.
