After my first post on uses for vapor rub, I got several more GREAT ideas.
Do you have Vapor Rub in the house? Are you ever sick enough to use the whole jar up? If not, here are some other great uses to keep that jar from going to waste.
- You can apply Vapor Rub to bumps, bruises, cuts and sore muscles. Apparently if you apply it immediately to an area that you bumped, it will NOT bruise.
- Apply to the soles of your feet if you have a bad cough that’s keeping you up at night.
- Apply to cracked heels at night and wake up to smooth feet in the morning.
- Gets rid of toenail fungus too.
Thanks for all the great suggestions!
Have you ever used Vicks for something other than a decongestant?
Be sure to catch up on all the previous Let’s Save Some Money posts.
Great info! Wow!
I use it when I have a migraine or morning sickness. Also great chap stick!
It helps with a migraine? Never would have thought of that one!
Wow! I never knew how useful Vicks was! Now I can’t wait for winter and stockup deals. LOL
If you have a job to do that always makes you gag from the stink, try some Vicks on your upper lip to mask the smell.
That’s a great idea!
We also rub it across the forehead for a headache.
For all the welders out there- it’s the fastest cure for flash burn from welding arcs is to put some on your eyelids!
Stop Your Cat from Scratching
Cats are notorious for scratching every hard surface they get their claws on. To prevent Miss Kitty from ruining your doors, walls, and windows, apply a small amount of VapoRub to these areas. Cats detest the smell and will steer clear. Vicks can also be applied to your arms and legs if your kitty is prone to scratching you.
Pet Pee-Pee Deterrent
If your dog or cat is not yet potty trained, put an open bottle of Vicks on the area he or she likes to mark as their territory. The smell will discourage them from lifting their legs and wetting your rug.
Go Away Mosquitoes
Vicks wards off mosquitoes. Apply small dabs of Vicks VapoRub to your skin and clothes and mosquitoes will steer clear. If you do get bitten, apply Vicks to the area and cover it with a Band-Aid to relieve itching.
These are great! I have a friend with cat problems, I’ll have to tell her about these!
Vaseline has the same effect regarding bruising. It’s good to keep a small jar of it in your diaper bag… particularly if you have important photos coming up! ;)
So does A&D. My girlfriend makes fun of me b/c I always have A&D in my purse and it’s my cure all. She says I’m like the mom on My Big Fat Greek Wedding with the Windex!
Wow! These are awesome tips..Thanks!
