This new Dalgona coffee seems to be all the rage on the internet now! I had to try it for myself. If you haven’t heard of it. Basically it is instant coffee spun into a sugar mix. That comes out to be a thick sticky consistency. You add it to the top of your milk of choice. As it melts into the coffee it creates a delicious coffee drink.
My honest opinion is I am not a fan. It doesn’t exactly melt into the coffee. It kind of sits on top until you stir it in. Maybe if I would of whipped it less it would of melted together. To me its one of those novelty once and one things. However, my kids loved it! Maybe I am just a coffee snob and wasn’t to happy to be drinking instant coffee. Who knows but this wasn’t for me.
Recipe
2 Tablespoons Nescafe Instant Coffee
1-3 Tablespoons sugar
Milk
Add 1 – 2 Tablespoons of instant coffee to equal parts hot water. If the instant coffee doesn’t melt into the hot water microwave for a few seconds then swish it around to melt the rest of the instant coffee, add in your sugar as much as you would normally add to coffee. Here is where the magic comes in. Get out you blender and blend to whip the liquid mixture. Whip it for about 3 minutes until you have a thick whipped foam. Add ice to a cup, fill with your milk of choice ( I used half milk and half heavy whipping cream), and top with your coffee foam.
