When you hear library, chances are you just think of rows and rows of books. Sounds like heaven to me! However, did you know your local library is more than just physical books or ebooks?
At our local library, you can actually check out cake pans! That means you can make a fancy character shaped cake, without having to go out and buy a pan you’ll only use once.
Libraries also have movies! I know in the age of streaming that doesn’t sound like much, but sometimes you really want to see a movie and your preferred service doesn’t have it. That’s happened to me on more than one occasion. Rather than going to spend money at Redbox, check and see if your local library has what you’re looking for.
You can rent video games for a variety of systems at the local library.
If you’re looking to grow a garden this year, check your area for seed libraries! Yes, some libraries are receiving grants to supply SEEDS! In my area, you can get 5 packs of seeds a week- and it’s a great way to find people who would be interesting in exchanging seeds as well.
My hometown library actually lets you check out museum and zoo passes. Talk about a huge savings- and you get to plan fun family outings at the same time!
This doesn’t even take into account the events your library hosts- book clubs, game clubs, story times, art events and more! Call your library, or head in and see what kind of great things they offer. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
