We never consider ourselves cat people until we started watching all these You Tube videos of cats doing funny things. Our favorite videos include the surprised kitty, the cat vs the printerĀ and of course Ninja kitty. So after seeing how much joy cats bring to people’s lives, we decided we had to have a cat in our lives too.
Two weeks ago, I had this overwhelming feeling that our cat was waiting on us to come get her. I can’t explain it, but I couldn’t think about anything else but the need to own a cat. So I had hubby call around to all the local shelters and he couldn’t get in touch with anyone. So finally he decided to call PetSmart because he knew that our local animal shelter adopts kitties through their store. When he called, he learned about this beautiful black and white cat who would be perfect for our family.
So we set off to meet her. And she is perfect in every way. She is sweet, loving andĀ tolerableĀ of our 12 year old small dog. We knew right away that she was the cat meant for us.
And what makes her even more perfect for us is that her given name is Tink. I’m not kidding. The shelter (or her previous owners) had already named her Tink! Being the Disney loving family that we are, we could not leave her behind. ‘Ohana means family. So we unofficially named her Tinker Bell Ohana Cooper and call her Tink for short. Well I call her Kitty Kitty in a high pitched baby voice. HAHA.
So now we are cat people and we couldn’t be happier. She even likes to help me work, although she spends most of the time trying to attack the cursor on the screen. Such a silly kitty!
Congratulations! Furry famiy members are such a joy.
As a huge animal lover and advocate, I just want to say I am so glad you went and adopted this shelter kitty! I have a few myself, all rescues, and they are such a blessing to me and my family. I have just become an even bigger fan of yours. People who open their homes and hearts to animals are truly special people.
Thank you so much for adopting a rescue and not buying one. Hope you have many many years of joy with Kitty Tink!
Tink looks adorable! Our kitties are named Snickers, KitKat, and Skittles.
Congrats on the kitty! My own cat is a shelter kitty through PetsMart. When we got him, they’d named him Angel. TOTALLY didn’t fit. My daughter renamed him Elvis. Not after the singer, either; she just loved Stitch and thought Elvis fit him. He certainly has attitude!
Congrats!
Congratulations on your new kitty!! We have a dog and two cats ourselves. They are like family to us :)
Awww…is she a tuxedo cat? She looks so much like my kitty Daisy:)
What a beautiful kitty! You will love having a friend who comes and sits and purrs on your lap. I cannot imagine life without a kitty ever again. Congrats to you and your ‘Ohana!
Congrats! She is adorable!
We were unknown cat people and a Disney family. Our neighbors came to us with a cat that had been passed to three families and just couldn’t find her forever home. Well we went to look at her and her name was Ariel. It was meant to be just like your new sweet addition.
You have to check out this cat named Sparta on YouTube!! I have 4 cats my 1st is a male Bengal (descendant of the Asian leopard cat) his name is Sachi Toro. Sachi means to bring joy and Toro means family.
Anyway here is the link to Sparta http://youtu.be/Qit3ALTelOo
Cute! We got a new puppy fee months ago and her name is Tinkerbell…Tink for short! :)
Congrats on the new addition to the family. I love all 4 of our kitties and our two dogs. Every pet we have has found it’s way to us. I feel like they choose their family not the other way around.
That’s wonderful! There are so many sweet kitties in need of good homes. We have rescued 3 and each has been such an important member of our family. Sometimes it’s just meant to be!!!
Congrats in your new addition to the family! We saved a kitten ( 9 months old) four years ago she was living on the streets and wouldn’t go near anyone but my husband who at the time didn’t like cats. She won him over big time and she has been an important part of our family I can’t imagine out lives without her and I call her Kitten Kitten a lot but her name is Tinkerbell Belle for short! So funny how we have tink’s at home!
Congrats Kristin and the Cooper family! I am a cat lover and have had a few growing up, and have 2 boys right now.
My old man, Petey…just Petey, will be 21 years old in August. I got him when he was a year old, and I was 15. I adopted him from a shelter and like you with the feeling of your cat waiting for you, but slightly more specific..I awoke one day and said to my mom “There is a gray fluffy cat at the shelter. We have to go get him, he is waiting for me” I hadn’t even been to the shelter in years. Due to losing my last cat a couple months before, she agreed to take me.
Well he was there, and he was the only gray & white cat period, and he was fluffy. Mom was sceptical because he seemed skittish but I said he’d be fine.
He was…2 hours later he was following me around the house, and he still does to this day 20 years later. Well almost, he doesn’t walk as good anymore, so he doesn’t follow, but he is always sleeping next to my spot on the couch to snuggle up to me when I sit.
My other boy is named Buddy and he is what I like to call a Tiganese. A tiger and Siamese mix. He was homeless and I was feeding him, poor thing was starving to death when I moved in. A year later he showed up injured and after a lengthy and expensive vet visit he was mine. He is wonderful!! His official name is Buddy O’Malley (bc he was an alley cat, Thomas O’Malley from Aristocats). Buddy is bc that is what I was calling him while I was feeding him, like my buddy, my friend.
Cats are awesome, you just have to understand them and know they aren’t a dog. You can’t expect them to act that way. But they can be very loving, affectionate, and smart.
Congrats on Tink, she is adorable and it was meant to be. Enjoy her!
Our kitty, Charlie brings us so much happiness. Welcome to the wonderful world of cat ownership. They are wonderful!
Congrats! Our 3 fur babies are Mitch, Stan and Jake.
I love this story :) I have a fur baby myself and he is my greatest joy. I’m due to give birth to our first human child in a couple of weeks, but Preston will always be our first baby and be this new little one’s big brother!!!!
She is adorable! We adopted a cat also named Belle! Cats are so much fun!!
We had a kitten named daisy – she found a new home because my some is severely allergic
We just got a cat a few months ago! Hubby and I really weren’t cat ppl…Now we are so glad! I hope you all enjoy Tink! She’s a cutie!
I love cats and am very much a cat person. That’s very cool that you felt that pull to adopt a cat & did. It sounds like she was meant to be a part of your family =^..^=
