The National Peanut Festival in Dothan, AL is the event of the year in tri-state area (AL,GA,FL). It lasts for a week with events similar to a state fair with pagaents, crafts, baking, photography, animal exibits, etc contest. Of course you have all the rides and the fairway with so much food – like roasted corn, boiled peanuts and the Hotdog Man’s famous hotdogs. There is a concert every night and just like one of the readers mentioned Garth Brooks was here years ago. Some of the best groups are booked for the shows.
I was just thinking that if you didn’t want to coupon to Disney you might can coupon to the National Peanut Festival, just once to say you did.
I love this website and the encouragement it gives to save money and spend time with my family.
Peanut Festival is a big deal around here. Carnival rides, livestock shows, pageant, roasted corn, boiled peanuts…typical southern fair. Not, however, easy on the pocketbook!!
it is from what i remember. i dated a man that lived in dothan from 88-beginning 91..went to the festival once. Saw Garth Brooks. it was very popular then..very crowded.

Queen of corn!! lol
GA peanuts are awesome! Not to mention we had a pres that was known for peanut farming:)
We lived in Georgia and S. Carolina and they loved their boiled peanuts.
I allergic…lol
Apparently so! When I lived in S. GA. I knew several people that drove down there to see it.
It is a BIG deal in Dothan! They even had a Face Book Page :0)
They used to have a high school band festival associated with it because we went down there, I think my junior year, and performed.
I wonder how the pecan people feel about this.
