My husband and I have very big news to share with our SavEars…. We have been thinking and praying over a very big decision for 6 months. Jason knows how much I love homeschooling my children, how much I love inspiring my SavEars to pay for Disney vacations and how much I love helping my Ever Afties find clothes that fit and flatter their body. But Jason also sees how hard it is for me to do all the things that I have been called to do and how I am not always able to implement the ideas/projects that I would really like to do that would help you all so much!
I met Jason online in July of 1999. At the time, he was working for an outlet store. I told him that he needed to go work for Walmart… and that way if he ever moved live closer to me, he would have a job that he could transfer with.
So in December of 1999, Jason started working at Walmart. He was an hourly associate until he was promoted a month after Emily was born to Assistant Manager.
He worked day in and day out, he worked days and nights. He worked every single Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. He worked so hard for our family so that I could stay at home with the kids.
In 2009, by couponing and hard work, I was able to save the money to take our family on our first vacation. We went and we fell in love with Disney…
When we came home, I started my blog CouponingtoDisney so that other people could learn how to save for their own Disney vacations.
Jason tried to help, but blogging wasn’t his forte. He would help with the kids so I could focus on blogging.
Just after Molly Kate was born, he started working in a Walmart Neighborhood Market and he really loved that position. So when we moved to Florida in 2016, he transferred to to a Walmart Neighborhood Market as an assistant.
Moving to Florida was by far the best decision we could have made. The cost of living here is less than Alabama and being close to Disney World and the beach is AMAZING!
Jason transferred with Walmart and 3 months after we moved here he was able to take a job with the Walmart Academy as a facilitator. He now trained Assistant Managers (a position he had held for 12 years). He really enjoyed this role and it had great hours (for the most part). He would work 7-5 Monday – Friday.
In July of 2017, God called us to start selling LuLaRoe. That was definitely not our life plan. We moved to Florida to live closer to Disney and hopefully advance his Walmart career (he had just moved into the Academy 6 months prior). But when God speaks, you do. And we are so very glad we did. The number of women we have been able to bless and inspire through a different avenue from blogging has been incredible.
He has done the very best to help me with the LuLaRoe side of our business. From the moment the boxes arrived, he has jumped in to help any way that he could. He would get up early to work the LuLaRoe tasks, go to the ‘real job’ from 6:30-6 on Monday – Friday and then come home and work until 10 pm helping me with more LuLaRoe tasks and the children. Always with a smile on his face. He has become so well known and so beloved by the Ever Afties…he even has his own show…. “The Jason Show” and his own catch phrase.
In July of 2019, we were able to go to California to see my 92-year-old Grandmother. When you see someone nearing the end of their journey, you really start to think about your own. We were approaching our big goal of 20 years with Walmart (once you reach this milestone, you can retire and keep the employee discount for life). So we began to pray and think over what we should do when Jason reached that milestone.
And surprisingly….and something that really caught me off guard….we realized that Jason was meant to retire from Walmart and come home to work with me full time.
So on January 31st, 2020, Jason officially left Walmart and came home to work alongside me to help me homeschool and raise the children, inspire the SavEars and encourage the Ever Afties.
Please join me in congratulating him on achieving his huge goal. And on walking together with me to help you in all the ways that we can. We are so grateful to you for reading CouponingtoDisney. And we are so very very excited to start rolling out all my ideas and plans for you to help you get to Disney and achieve your dreams.
