The Outpost in Epcot is located between China and Germany. It was devised to be a temporary placeholder for the African countries that were planned to take it’s spot after Epcot opened. Unfortunately the idea was scrapped and The Outpost has remained for 29 years.
In the Refreshment Coolpost, you can purchase floats, slushes, ice cream sundaes, soft serve ice cream and more. Look up and you’ll notice the owner changed the name from Outpost to Refreshment Coolpost. You might also spot the water tower on the roof that supplies the restaurant with clean water.
In The Outpost, you will find an area for kids to let lose with some African drums. Be sure to open the Coca-Cola coolers for a nice surprise! Also spot the Kola Nuts which are used to add flavoring to Coke and are native to Africa. The Chevy Woody is also prepared to deliver cool beverages to the natives.
On the lagoon side of The Outpost, you will find comfortable seating where you can enjoy your treat and watch the people go by. Look over the wall into the lagoon and you’ll spot 3 different African canoes on the shore.
Don’t miss The Village Traders housed in a mud house with a more permanent wood structure connected to the side. Inside you’ll find traditional African artifacts and even a coin machine. You can also get your face painted or your hair wrapped in beads. If you are in Germany, you can do your grocery shopping for a saving holiday here: wprospekte.de
