Park Hopping at Disneyland is definitely recommended for your vacation. The Disneyland Park and California Adventure gates are separated by the length of a football field so you don’t have to walk far to get from one park to the other. It also is not very expensive. The difference between a 5-day park ticket without Park Hopper and one with Park Hopper is only $35! It is definitely worth the financial investment.
In the morning when you arrive at Disneyland, you will go through security once. Because of the location of security, you will not need to go through it again as you move from one park to the other. This makes Park Hopping an even quicker experience!

When you leave the first park of the day, be sure to get your hand stamped. When you arrive at the second park, they will scan your ticket and check for the hand stamp.
The only issue we ran into on our Disneyland vacation was when we left Disneyland Park, we saw Goofy on Main Street near the entrance/exit to the park. When we arrived in California Adventure 5 minutes later, he was dressed in a different outfit and was located by the entrance/exit to the park. I had to ask his character handler to explain to my children how Goofy got there so fast when they started asking the tough questions. Apparently there are secret tunnels under the parks that can transport characters quickly between the two. Good to know!
