What is the special now
What is the new deal
We just went for my grandson’s 3 month pictures. Although the pictures turned out very cute, I can’t say I would ever go back.
We went with the 19.99 package special in mind that was to include 43 prints as well as a “free” ornament, knowing full well that they would try to upsell. We ended up spending $369 because that was the lowest package you could buy and get the disk with all of the pictures in high-resolution. Personally I feel these types of places prey on people emotions. I think it would be wonderful for a photographer to start a business that all young parents can afford. Still offering quality and the pictures they really want.
We went for Christmas pictures for our first experience with Portrait innovations. The photographer was GREAT and took a ton of pictures. It was hard to just pick out a few. I was suprised the disc we got included every pose not just what we picked. I was able to print out on my computer some of the poses we didn’t select. The only problem we had were the parents of a 2-3 year old who was throwing a tantrum and all they said is now now thats not nice. We will definately go back and have referred several friends there. They are the best! I have tried walmart, sears, olan mills. They are all overpriced and outdated. This is new and refreshing!
I’ve been to portrait innovations 4 times now, and have had a mix of experiences. I’d heard from others the best time is to take the first appt they have of the day (ours was 9am). The first visit I made was with my entire family-13 people and so many combos I’m surprised they didn’t make us weed out some! We had a wonderful experience with a great photographer and all together we spent almost $300-for 4 families it was a great deal!! The next time was Halloween and we went to PI after a HORRIBLE experience with JCPenney. Again – good pics, great service! The 3rd time was for my daughters 6 month/christmas visit and they took the best pics I have to date of her! We spent almost $100 because they were soooo good, and it was just of 1 kid! The last time I went, I made it clear I was only there for a few pics b/c it was my daughters 9 months…not really a need for tons of pics, just a few memories. The sales woman was pushy and a bit rude when I continued to say I only wanted a few pics, and they weren’t that good to boot. So 3 out of 4 great visits, I’ll be back with both of my daughters and hope that we have more good visits than bad!
I went there with my SIL and her son for our only experience and won’t be going back. It took over FOUR hours (my daughter missed lunch so the last hour was a BLAST) to take the pictures and get out of there- and without pictures; their equipment was down and I ended up having to make a second trip out to get them. Pics were only okay and photographer was very pushy to get us to increase the package. I much prefer Olan Mills or Wal-mart’s in store portraits. But hey, a good deal is a good deal IF you can resist the photographer’s push to buy more! ;)
Kathie, I’m so sorry you had a horrible experience. We just had a store open locally and I’m in love with them! I went once. Since I have been to and used to work at Picture People, I knew the best time to make an appointment is always first thing in the morning. Equipment usually works better and the photographers haven’t had to deal with temperamental children all day. Our session was spectacular and I ended up spending a whopping $176. Yep, they saw me coming! But I love everything I got. I will go back again!
We’ve been there 3 times so far and will only go back because the price is right. Since our DD was born we’ve decided to do familiy pics twice a year, 4th of July and Christmas. We went for the first time the pictures went well (we did the package and 3 extra sheets) but the photo machine was broken and it took several trips back to get the pictures. The 2nd trip was Christmas and they were over 2 hours behind for appointments and the prints wouldn’t be ready till the next day, we got our package and got out of there (after waiting several hours pictures with a 11 month old aren’t great). Out 3rd trip was this 4th and we bought the package and 1 sheet but our photograhper was very rude that we only wanted famiy pics and weren’t interested in just our daughter (we made that clear when we went in) then got very rude that we weren’t spending enough. We did get our pictures right away that time.
If the package deal wasn’t so good we would go elsewhere but as it is it takes both photo sessions just to get enough family pictures to put in our Christmas cards.
I’ve been to Portrait Innovations twice. I went last November with a goal of getting a sweet picture of my 2 daughters together to give out as Christmas presents. The first trip didn’t go well and we left empty handed. The second trip I blogged about here – http://valerie121.blogspot.com/2009/11/pictures.html
I was really impressed with this company and definitely plan on returning.
I have personally used them on several occasions for pictures and they do an awesome. I made sure I did the package that also gave us a CD with all of the pictures they took (you can get copyright released) and it only cost me 50$
