If you purchased Rice Krispies or Cocoa Krispies between June 1st, 2009 and March 1st, 2010, you are entitled to receive up $15 in compensation for buying up to 3 boxes as part of a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit contends that the cereal maker falsely advertised that the two cereals supported your immune system even though it didn’t have adequate data to back the claim. You don’t have to show a proof of purchase to claim the $15 in this class action lawsuit.
Go here to file your claim if you purchased the cereal. If you chose not to file your claim, the money left from the settlement will go to the charity of their choice. Janice did a little digging and found the court document at http://www.cerealadvertisingsettlement.com/docs/sa.pdf. The distribution of any leftover funds will be “…one third to the Food Safety, Health, and Nutrition Project of Public Justice; one third to the Westside Food Bank; one third to the food safety program at the University of Georgia.”
