The last thing you want to do is spoil your vacation by taking your children on rides that will scare them and make them refuse to ride other attractions. Sometimes you have to warm them up to the bigger attractions. Here are my suggestions for Ride This Disney Ride And Then Ride That One:
#1 – Dark Rides
Ride This: The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh – There are a few scenes in this attraction that are very low lit. If your child didn’t mind the darkness, you can move on to the next.
Then That: Pirates of the Caribbean – Many of the scenes in this ride are very dark and there is even a 14 foot drop located in pitch black.
#2 – Roller Coasters
Ride This: Barnstormer – This is a mild and short coaster with a minimum height requirement of just 35 inches. If your child enjoyed this coaster, you can move on to the next.
Then that: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – This is a faster paced coaster referred to as the “Wildest Ride In The Wilderness.” If they enjoyed Barnstormer, they are ready to tackle this one.
#3 – Drops
Ride This: Pirates of the Caribbean – This ride has a small 14 foot drop in it. Make sure your child is comfortable with the drop and the overall feel of the ride.
Then That: Splash Mountain – If they liked the Pirates drop, you can take them on Splash Mountain. It has a 52.5 foot drop!
#4 – Slow Moving Cart Rides
Ride This: Under The Sea – Adventures Of The Little Mermaid – Board a clam shell for a trip through Ariel’s story. During the ride your clam shell will twist and even lean back.
Then That: Haunted Mansion – If your child is comfortable with slow moving cart rides and attractions with dark scenes, you are ready to attempt Haunted Mansion. There is a chicken exit after the stretching room if your child is too uncomfortable. You can also ask a CM if you can skip the stretching room scene as it can be pretty terrifying.
Hope this helps you to have a stress free trip!

Is there any way you can list which rides have drops? My kids will ride almost anything it is me that can’t handle drops. I don’t mind fast, twisting, dark, spinning, etc but don’t like drops. I know I can’t do Splash Mountain or the coaster in Animal Kingdom but what about others. I think I could probably do the 14′ one you mention but nothing bigger. We went for the first time last summer and I was disappointed with the lack of detail on Disney’s site. With Universal I was able to tell based on the website’s description and friend advise what I would be able to handle ahead of time but with Disney it is very vague. I would love to know before we return next year if things like Space Mountain have drops. Thank you :)
