This was the best clearance trip I have been on ever, in my whole life. Period. End of sentence.
Why? Because tonight I was able to witness that magic as it happened. That’s right. Tonight, I was right there for the action as the Target employees marked the toy clearance from 50% to 70%. They were literally clearancing around me.
Ahhh, what a rush. To hear the beeps of the price scanner, to watch the label printer spit out an endless stream of yellow stickers, and most satisfyingly, to be the only customer in the aisle as that merchandise went from 50% to 70%.
Here’s how it happened. There has long been a rumor that Target clearances toys on Thursdays, but like with all rumors, your mileage may vary, depending on region, or even store. I had a doctor’s appointment right down the street from Target and thought I would reward myself for surviving the pokes and prods by checking to see if clearance had dropped.
And boy had it.
While there were no handy 70% off signs, everything in the clearance section and endcaps that was labeled sale was at least 50% off, much of it discounted to 70%. You’re tired of me saying it but it bears repeating: always be scanning. One endcap of fashion dolls said 30% off, were stickered at 50%, but most of them, including DC Superhero Girls, Barbie, and Disney Descendants, were scanning at 70%.
The things that were stickered for 70% were the bigger things with only a few left: scooters, dollhouses, furReal pets. Smaller stuff they had a ton of, like blind bags or action figures, were still at 50%.
Like always, if you see something you love now, get it while the getting is good. I was so excited about some of my finds that the ink was barely dry on the sticker before it was in my cart. One of the employees kept giving me helpful hints, too, as she went along stickering markdowns. “Psssst, I’m about to discount this giant puppy.” Bless her.
For many of us, I think toy clearance is probably winding down. We may see one final push next Thursday, January 31st, of the last 50% off merch, since stores will want to have all the new, full retail toys out for Valentine’s Day and Easter. If your store is at 50%-70% off, now is the time for action.
Tsum Tsums at $1.48, 70% off. Cue the Imperial March.
I don’t know what this is, or why this dude has his back to us, but he’s 70% off at $9.58.
Tummy Rubs Nazboo, which is an awesome band name, is 70% off at $7.48.
This set of 20 puzzles was down to $5.98. Perfect for stocking stuffers, goody bags, or even Valentines for a class!
The Little Tikes Stem Wonder Lab was down to $35.98 from $119.99.
Star Wars (and many other brand) fidget spinners were $1.48, 70% off.
Okay, this is why I am always telling you to scan. Here we have three sets of Star Wars Tsums Tsums, each stickered a different price. The far left is stickered at $7.48, the middle-the EXACT SAME SET-is stickered at $9.98, and the final one is stickered at the price all three were scanning at: $5.98, 70% off. Always Be Scanning!
Barbie and the Rockers at 70% off, $5.98. Man, I wished my hair were that cool.
Little Kingdom Magical Movers Castle down to $5.98 from $19.99.
This cool engineering toy for extreme sports fans was down to $2.98 from $9.99.
Barbie Garden set, complete with play doh, was $6.28 from $20.99. I was this close to grabbing that one, but I could not knowingly bring myself to bring more play doh into my house.
$5.38 for Adventure Maui, normally $17.99.
Okay, so here is where I lost my mind. This gorg limited edition Christmas Our Generation Horse, normally $44.99 was $13.48. I grabbed two.
Fashionista Barbie was $2.98. Again, I wish my hair was cool like hers.
No idea what this toy is/does, but for $2.98 you could find out and report back to me!
KidKraft Disney Princess Dollhouse only $44.98 from $149.99. All the willpower in the world, my friends. That’s all it tool to not grab this. Plus, it helped my horses were taking up a ton of room in the cart.
Shopkins Super Mall was marked down from $59.99 to $29.98.
Ricky the Trick Lovin’ Pup’s greatest trick is how he keeps dropping prices! Now only $38.98 from $129.99, he was another one who I had to try very hard to resist.
$11.98 for this Oddbods set, originally $39.99.
Wizard Wand for $10.48 instead of $34.99.
Mecard figure and card went from $14.99 to $4.48.
Flanx, a card game, used to be $9.99 and now it is $3.98. This would be an original, and fun, idea for a teacher or co-worker gift.
My store had a ton of these Rusty Rivets sets for $3.88, originally $12.99.
More Shimmer and Shine. $2.98 for this Sparkle Pet Pack.
Okay, this is still 50% but I thought it was too cool not to include. This is a Domez set for the new Spiderman movie, Into the Spiderverse. Not only is this movie brand new, but it just got nominated for an Oscar. I cannot believe these toys are discounted. $14.98!
Our Generation Girls with book for $10.48.
Baby Alive for $7.48. My middle one is giving me some grief with potty training, so it was too soon for me with this toy, but what a crazy good deal!
Mal and Ben are $10.48. Grab ‘em now, before Descendants 3 comes out!
My haul from this trip. My two ponies, and the Starfire/Blackfire set I had my eye on at the beginning of the month! Those superhero sisters were marked down from $30.99 to $9.28. That’s like $4.60 a doll.
Okay, so here is my January Toy Clearance Haul. It is small, but mighty. So thrilled with everything, since I was able to get 70% off of all of it.
- Our Generation Winter Wonder Holiday Horse (2): $26.96. Originally $44.99 each, or 89.98 total.
- DC Superhero Girls 2 Pack: $9.28. Originally $30.99.

I was so psyched I got all those toys for less than the original retail cost of ONE of those horses. I saved $100 on this year’s Christmas. This was a good clearance season. Can’t wait to do it all again in July.
