I know you have seen this awesome statue of Triton in the new Fantasyland area of Magic Kingdom, right across from the Ariel ride and Ariel’s Grotto. Maybe you’ve even stopped to take a picture with him before you rushed on to the next attraction. Have you ever seen this sign though?
If you haven’t, don’t feel bad. I’ve seen the sign but rushed right on past myself. In fact, I probably wouldn’t have noticed it if we hadn’t been due to see Ariel, when my daughter was struck by an acute case of Daddy I have to go to the potty RIGHT NOW. He rushed her to Rapunzel’s Tower and I spent some quality time people watching. You see those arches on either side of Triton? Those aren’t just for show.
There is a whole area back here! Forgive the pictures, another family knew what I did not- that this little area is quiet, sheltered and the perfect place to regroup!
There is the clever family. Hi, family! Don’t mind me, taking pictures of your sanctuary to share with the world.
There are a lot of interesting things to check out in this area. Even better, in addition to the shade and protection from the rain, there is a small child’s entertainment cube, which you can just see past the lovely Cinderella in the previous picture. So the next time you’re rushing through new Fantasyland as the blazing heat of the Florida sun beats down on you, and you find yourself desperately hunting shade or a quiet moment away from the crowd, look for the King Triton statue and the Seafarer’s Wood carving area. Enjoy those few moments to yourself, and in the immortal words of Maui… “You’re Welcome”.
