There are currently 11 rides in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. It is our favorite part of the park and where we spend the most time on our trips. And with the new expansion, there is more to see and do!
The first ride you will see if you enter Fantasyland through Cinderella’s Castle is Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel. This carousel was originally constructed in 1917 and still includes all of the original 90 ornate horses, each of which are unique in their design. You will also find one carved chariot on the ride if you would like to sit.
It’s A Small World is one of the most classic rides in all of Walt Disney World. Originally built with the support of UNICEF for the 1964-1965 World’s Fair, you will now find this attraction at all of the Disney Resorts around the world. We all know this classic tune and can sing along with the almost 300 traditional dolls as you enjoy the 10 minute journey through a rainbow of diverse cultures from around the world and all 7 continents.
One ride not to miss in Fantasyland is the Mad Tea Party. This attraction features 18 spinning teacups (the spin is controlled by the riders in your party) that twist and turn to tunes from Alice in Wonderland. You can also find both Alice and the White Rabbit outside the ride during the day.
The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh is a must do attraction. Your party will board a colored honeypot so you glide and bounce through the story of Winnie the Pooh. Your journey will take you through the Blustery Day in the Hundred Acre wood, Bouncing with Tigger, through an adventure with Heffalumps and Woozles, you’ll get swept away in a torrential downpour along with Eeyore, Roo, Kanga, Rabbit, Owl and Tigger and finally celebrate with all your favorite characters at a party for Pooh.
If I want to feel surrounded by Disney Magic, I head to Mickey’s PhilharMagic. This is a spectacular 12-minute 3D fantasy starring Donald Duck as he tries to recover Mickey’s Sorcerer hat. It takes you on a journey through some of the most memorable songs from Disney animated movies including Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Peter Pan and Aladdin.
The first Fantasyland attraction we ride is Peter Pan’s Flight. Thanks to Tinker Bell’s Pixie Dust, you will magically sail through the story of Peter Pan in your own personal pirate ship. You’ll catch glimpses of the Nursery, London, Neverland, The Lost Boys and you’ll journey through a fight scene with Peter Pan and Hook and as you make your way back home, you’ll leave a defeated Captain Hook in your dust.
Enchanted Tales with Belle is one of the newest attractions in Fantasyland. This is an interactive story adventure that features Belle, Lumiere and cast of characters played by the audience. At the beginning of your fairy tale journey, you arrive at Maurice’s cottage, Belle’s childhood home. From there, you are magically transported to Beast’s Library in the castle to interact with Belle in your story telling adventure. Afterwards, those that participated in the story are invited to take a picture with the princess before departing with a small trinket.
Under The Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid is the Magic Kingdom’s newest dark ride. You enter Prince Eric’s castle through an underground cavern and board your clamshell for a journey through Ariel’s story. You will even find yourself under the sea as you sing and dance along with Ariel’s cast of her closest saltwater friends. Finally the story will conclude with Ariel and Eric’s wedding and King Triton will see you off with a fireworks display.
After you ride Under the Sea, head over to Ariel’s Grotto, the only place to meet Ariel outside of character meals. Because guest have just journeyed under the sea, you will have the honor of meeting Ariel with her mermaid tail. This is a more intimate meet-and-greet, allowing only 2 families in with Ariel at a time.
Located in Storybook Circus, The Barnstormer is a roller coaster made with little ones in mind. Guests 35 inches and taller can become part of The Great Goofini’s daredevil act. You’ll board one of his stunt biplanes and hold on tight as he makes you part of his stunt show. While this ride only lasts for 63 seconds, it is thrilling and fun for everyone in your party.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is one of the most classic Disney attractions. It has been re-imagined in it’s new home in Storybook Circus and now features 2 sets of rotating Dumbos, one flies clockwise and the other flies counter-clockwise. Plus you no longer need to rush to Dumbo as it now features both Fastpass and an interactive queue for the kids to entertain the kids until it’s your time to fly. Disney did a great job making this attraction guest friendly!
Stop by Sir Mickey’s to see the Giant trying to peek into Fantasyland.

Does the Great Goofini last 63 seconds now? Last time we saw it last spring, not counting loading/unloading time, it was more like a 25 second ride.
Tea Cups are closed for refurb :( and rumor had it that the horse with the gold tie on the tail is Princess Cindy’s horse!
in answer to the question about being picked for belle’s story…we were just there and the cast members do a great job of including anyone who wants a part. The main parts are given out first and then anyone else who wants to can choose a prop. This was the most enjoyable new experience we had.
thanks for sharing this magic with us! we are only 15 days away from our trip and so excited. Do you know if there is any way to increase the chances for my daughter to picked as on e of the characters for storytime with Belle? Thanks again for this wonderful webpage!!
We went through the Story Time with Belle twice and DD wanted a part so badly. The first time they handed out all the parts and she didn’t get one but then they offered parts to all the kids that wanted to be a part of the action. The second time we had just come from BBB and DD was dressed as Belle, that time she was picked quickly.
Funny, the new Dumbo experience was really tough for my 2 year old. she was really upset to have to leave the play area. Tears for the rest of the time in line as she was too little to understand what was to come. Lots of other families in similiar situations. Something we will take into consideration next time around. Make sure your kids aren’t at the end of their ropes!
