Reducing food waste is an ongoing goal of Disneyland Resort. They have a plan on what to do with food during the temporary closure of Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park due to COVID-19 concerns.
During the temporary closure all excess food inventory will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. This will be done so while following guidelines of food safety.
The mission of the Second Harvest Food Bank is to end hunger in Orange County. Excess dairy, fruit, vegetables, packaged goods and banquet meals will be donated by Disneyland Resort.
In 2019, Disneyland Resort had over 20,000 meals donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
