We love to road trip with our kids. In doing so, I always try to have several “car only” items for them to play with on the journey. One of their favorites is their Travel Lego Box, and it was so simple to make.
I bought a plastic school box for $1, a small Lego set ($5-6) and a 10″ x 10″ Lego Baseplate. The baseplate cuts very easily with scissors, so you can cut it to whatever size you need. I measured and cut mine to fit in the lid portion of the school box and attached it using hot glue.
Then I dumped the small Lego set in the bottom portion of the box, and that was it! My kids can now play with Lego’s on the go, AND they’re in a handy container to help with messes and clean up! I made two of these, out of a 10″ x 10″ Lego Baseplate, and still had a couple large pieces left over. A simple, and semi cheap, activity for families on the go.
