This past weekend Walt Disney World hosted the “ultimate girl’s weekend”, welcoming almost 25,000 participants in the Princess Half Marathon events.
The Frozen 5k, the Princess Enchanted 10k, the Princess Half Marathon and of course the Glass Slipper Challenge brought runners from all over the world to run, have fun and bring home some bling. At Destinations in Florida, we had a large group of runners that took advantage of the discounted rooms we offered from all over the world, some as far away as Ireland.
If you have never been to a runDisney event, then you don’t know what you are missing. I watched the runners cross the finish line of the Princess Half Marathon and from the first to the last and one thing never changed in all those hours, the smiles. The smiles of the runners as they crossed the finish line gave me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. I saw a marriage proposal, some jumps, high fives, some tears, okay lots of tears and even some limping. I am a member of a couple of different runDisney groups and the stories behind some of the finishes will make you cry, the determination, the dedication and the kindness of complete strangers that will take a worse time, just to help someone they don’t cross the finish line is amazing.
Tomorrow the registration opens up for the Walt Disney World Wine and Dine Half Marathon for 2015. This is only open to DVC members and AP holders tomorrow at noon Eastern, with the general public being able to book on March 17th at noon Eastern.
Once again Destinations in Florida has arranged for discounted rooms and tickets for this event, the best part?!?! Our discounted ticket prices have NOT gone up yet, like the regular tickets. Which means it is even more a savings for you. Click here for a free quote for your room at the Wine and Dine Half Marathon event. These extra discounted tickets are good through March 21st.
Don’t forget to join us here for our runDisney C2D page which will be full of all the latest news, tips and tricks and our discounts especially for our C2D fans.
