We are at mother in laws. I was so glad to see my little man. He is so precious. We are tucking into bed now. I don’t want to be too exhausted tomorrow.
Any tips for an 8 hour drive ?? We’ve got new toys and lots of movies.
Save for Disney vacations by utilizing budgeting, coupons, sales and more
Thank you all so much!! These are excellent tips. I learned a few things. Hopefully it’ll go well. I will keep you posted.
Have a safe journey and have a super fun trip! Can’t wait to hear about all the DisneyWorld excitement.
I don’t have any tips for you, HOWEVER, I just wanted to say that I love, love, love your blog’s makeover…it looks so much more inviting and is definitely easier to navigate. My boyfriend is a web designer and he is in the process of building me a site for couponing and he gave your makeover 2 very big thumbs up! Have fun at Disney!

Our three week sojourn to AL recently (10 trip each way) made me VERY thankful for the DVD player in our van. My older son always had a portable DVD player in our other car but this one is built in. The beauty of it? There are wireless headphones! I don’t have to listen to whatever it is they are watching. Bliss, I tell ya.
For us, less is more. If I try to occupy their attention with lots of different things, they seem to have fleeting interest in any of it! With fewer distractions, they seem to pay more attention to whatever it is and not “Are we there yet?” LOL
Be safe!
I’m sure the drive to Disney will go faster than the drive home. And I’m sure you all will be rocking out to Disney music on the way. It might be fun to ask your kids what they think the lyrics are in a song. I bet they come up with some pretty funny lyrics of their own.
I travel with my kids myself a few times a year on an 8 hour trip. The key is to space everything out! Dont give them everything at once! The first hour or so they should be good and excited to get on the road. Once they start to get restless I bust out a snack or new toy. My kids are 6 & 3 also. I try to space everything out every half hour to hour. Drawing, new toys, games, snacks, drinks, movies, all work good. The occational stop at a rest area works good. Have them see how fast they can run to a tree or something to get some energy out.
If you are stopping for lunch at Mcdonals or some place like that just let them play and run around. I never make my kids eat. I just let them play. Then they eat in the car! Once lunch is over then its time to watch a movie and hopefully they will fall asleep. once they wake up I put on some of thier favorite songs or we sing and make up goofy things. If my hubbs is with me the kids think it is great if I get in the back seat with them and play games or watch a movie. Hang man and tic-tac-toe. Anything to keep them busy and thier mind off of they acctual driving. Have fun! Good Luck!
How come you are going to Disney, but I’m the one that’s excited and can hardly contain myself? I’m not going! lol. Have fun. I am vicariously going to live through you this next week!
We drove up to Oregon a few years back, and I let the kids each have a special bag filled with their favorites, we listened to music they liked, played I SPY (which was useless after getting into the wooded areas, lol everything was green and brown), and we let them have a new little goody at certain points – such as mile marker 16, at 7:17 pm, etc.
Other than that just keep your smiles on, and try to keep them as happy as you can without over doing it for your husband and yourself. GOOD LUCK!
Get some rest. We (bloggers) are with you guys all the way. Looking forward to tomorrow. Night!
My kids go crazy for the 2 hour drive we have to Disney…GOOD LUCK to you! LOL! Having toys and movies are life savers. Don’t forget about silly games….Like my mommy went to the grocery store with a coupon and in it she bought something that began with the letter….A. LMAO!
Sarah B…that is so funny, my mom used to do the same exact thing for us. And still does! Seriously. We just took her with us to Disney and she still had a little something for me to open. I love that.
My mom was really good at making long trips great, this was even before portable DVD players and in cars with no air conditioning. Good snacks are nice, and she wrapped little presents for us to open along the way.
Have fun!
BE SAFE ~ Looking forward to meeting you here at DISNEY!!!
My boys enjoy playing I SPY also Seeing if we can find as many liscense plates from each State on Autos driving on the hwy.
Get some rest……..SWEET DREAMS!
my kids get excited for all of the cheesy florida rest stops like the 13 foot gator and the FREE OJ stands that always seem to cost me $9. and when the Disney billboards start we make it a game to see who can call it out first.
It’s a little late considering you are already on the go, but Adventures in Odyssey is always a great trip maker!
We are heading to Disney bright and early on Sunday morning from Flowery Branch (just north of Atlanta). To keep my son busy during the trip I created a Disney activity book that includes coloring sheets, word searches, mazes, etc that I found online all with his favorite Disney characters. He will have his DS but will definitely get bored with it after a little while.
Ya’ll have fun and maybe I’ll see you down there!
Are you driving the whole way tomorrow or stopping along the way? I’m not sure how long it takes you to get from your mother-in-law’s to Disney. But beside the point, make sure you have plenty of snacks, drinks for all and books for the kids. Sounds like you’re all set otherwise!
Have a goodnight. For an eight hour drive sounds like you have it covered with Toys, and movies, I love to listen to a Disney Cd or two. Disney Park music is even better. Wishes, Fantismic, etc…
