Take a used dryer sheet and spray it with either air freshener or perfume and put it in the bottom of your trash cans to cut down on odors.
Put shampoo and conditioner in used hand soap pump bottles. This will cut down on using too much. Just limit to 1 or 2 pumps. (Great for kids!)

I don’t use dryer sheets anymore because I had read that they leave residue on your clothes. Plus, I couldn’t find a dryer sheet that had a nice scent. So I discovered dryer balls, which are rubbery, soft, spiky balls that bang around in the dryer w/ your clothes, and they last indefinitely. The only negative to the balls is that they get stuck in sleeves and other things sometimes and you have to find them. But, it’s only a once in a while purchase, and I like the way my clothes come out.

My friend and I just bought Soap Nuts for Laundry Detergent. They cost about $25 for 320 loads (almost a year, and $.07 per load). Soap Nuts are from the Soap Nut tree and are Organic, antimicrobial, antifungal, and can be composted. You don’t need to use a dryer sheet with these! I can’t wait to get them and try them out, from what I have read they are fabulous. They lady that recommended them uses them to clean her babies diapers.

love all the tips – I love moneysaving tips about as much as a pile of coupons!!
With laundry detergent I never use the reccommended amount you can use less and clothes will still be clean. If you noticed the new concentrated detergents their measurings/caps are the same size as the old detergent so that means you using more!! Same goes for dishwasher detergent-you don’t have to fill up that resevoir!
Keep the tips coming I love them!!

I cut dryer sheets in half, and use half the amount of wash detergent recommended on the bottle. I get the same results.

Nice idea on the shampoo. As for dryer sheets … we don’t use them at all! Can’t get any cheaper than that. (We stopped using them after my husband read that the way they work is by coating your clothing in a light waxy substance … yuck! And honestly, I haven’t missed it. I only notice it with my polyester pants, which are already yucky.)

Use a dryer sheet to help “unstick” overcooked/burnt on food. Fill pan or dish with warm water, add dryer sheet and let it soak over night. Next morning, use the dryer sheet to wipe down it down. This almost always gets it off!

YES! This works WONDERS on dirty meat loaf pans!

if you happen to have gum go into your dryer as I did, if you wet a dryer sheet and wipe, the melted on gum comes right off!

Dryer sheets can also be used to get ants out of a car. If you have ants, put a new dryer sheet in the car, the next day they are all gone. For some reason, they just don’t like them.

Thanks for the tip! I somehow keep getting ants – just put a dryer sheet in my purse to put in the car. Works for mosquitos – never thought of ants!

My teens do their own laundry, and after the Purex sheets were all gone (those rock- 1 sheet for normal dirt laundry, washing and drying) I saved an empty laundry soap bottle and mix the soap 1 to 3 parts soap to water. That way when the kidz are in a hurry and dump a full cap into the washer its already diluted.

I love to reuse dryer sheets. I put them in suitcases & other items rarely opened, so they always smell fresh! :)

http://www.doityourself.com/stry/dryersheets I heard more of them, but this is some of them for dryer sheets.

I use my leftover dryer sheets sometimes as “Swiffer’s”.The Purex 3 in one sheets work great to collect pet hair from my stairs.

I use my used dryer sheets to freshen up drawers too. Have used them under the seats of the car before! Lots of great uses!!

-You can also cut dryer sheets in half and they go twice as far.
-Dryer sheets work well taking odor out of stinky shoes. Stuff 1 (or 1/2) sheet in each shoe.

Wrap a rubber band around the pump bottles so you can’t pump a full pump. Makes it stop halfway down.
