Today’s tip comes from my reader Lyndsey….
Dryer balls bounce around inside the dryer and move your laundry around so that more air can circulate around the clothes, which makes them dry faster. Faster drying means less waiting around in your underwear for those pants to dry, and of course less money you have to shell out to the energy company. Some dryer balls also make your clothes smell nice. If you wanted you could add a drop or two of essential oil to one of the middle layers of the ball (while you’re still making it) and the scent would release over time. Dryer balls are also supposed to make your clothes softer. I have noticed my husband’s t-shirts are much softer, and all my laundry is definitely fluffier!
So I decided to make socks into dryer bars. Go here to read how I did it.

Also make sure you clean out the dryer vent to the outside regularly. When it is clogged, it takes much longer to dry your clothes, which costs much more money. I got a special brush to do it and it is amazing what a difference it makes. My Mother thought she needed a new dryer, but I cleaned out her vent and it worked much better.

I was going to say tennis balls too. There are some laundry mats that will let you use them there all you have to do is ask!!!

I use tennis balls. I am using the ones I’ve had for YEARS for drying my down comforters and coats. I heard about this a few months ago and thought I’d give it a try since I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. IT REALLY WORKS!!! My husband’s work clothes used to take 1-1.5 hours to dry and now they dry in under 45 minutes! WOO HOO!!! ALL of my loads dry quicker which not only saves money, it saves time. Gotta love that!!
