If your washer is stinking, here’s a way to clean it without breaking the bank:
- Pour 2 cups of vinegar or lemon juice into your machine and run it through a complete cycle on hot water.
- Scrub the edge of the door with vinegar to remove mildew and odor

My washing machine’s owner manual says to pour 1 cup bleach into the basket and run it on the clean cycle. I also run bleach through my dishwasher when it starts stinking.
Vinegar is a good substitute for Jet Dry as a rinse agent. Just fill it with white vinegar and you won’t have spots on your dishes. It’s WAY cheaper and I think it works better.

Thank you for this. My washer now smells so much better. Yes, I also do the vinegar in the dishwasher – not as much as I should.

Hey will this work with the dishwasher? Mine always stinks!

yes it will :) My grandmother runs vinegar in hers once a month! But I would run it empty or your dishes will be slpotchy. I tried to cut corners once ended up making myself more work…..
