This is a tip that should really be obvious to everyone but even I am guilty of forgetting to do this. Thanks to Lynsey for this tip…
Never throw away take-out napkins. Whenever you order take-out or get fast food to go, they give you a *ton* of napkins and you rarely need them all. Don’t throw them away when you clean up, add them to your cupboard and use them! Its so easy to just crumple everything all together, but it really cuts down on having to buy napkins/papertowels and it doesn’t waste them.

I also ask for paper plates, when I pick up a pizza at Sam’s Club. Other take out places like Pollo Loco also give out plates, just ask.

We actually do this! We save all napkins we get from Starbucks or any other drive thru and shove them in my glove compartment. We use them as tissues or whatever else we need them for. Now I need to stock up on straws because so many places FORGET to give me straws at the drive thru.

I have always kept my paper napkins from take-out! My friend used to make fun of me for it, but it’s one less thing I have to pay for.
I agree with Marie, I use the paper ones for red sauce and greasy things, but cloth for most everything else.
I’ve never even thought of sending napkins with my boys’ lunches! LOL I’ll ask them if they want them. :)

We use take out napkins for the kids lunch boxes. We usually get way too many condiments too. We use those in the lunch boxes as well. It makes eating carrots so much more exciting when you have a little ranch from KFC. Or the little tiny salt packets that came with the french fries for when I pack boiled eggs.

We use colorful washcloths for our napkins. They are less expensive and more absorbent than the traditional cloth napkins.

Ahaha we also use the take out/fast food napkins as tissues in the car lol

i’m really liking the cloth napkins idea! thanks, Amy :)

They are also a lifesaver in the car. For some reason a lot of restaurants around here forget to give napkins, straws, and utensils.

I send cloth napkins in for the kid’s lunch…get the fun holiday napkins on clearance or make some from fun fabric so no big deal when one ends up left in the lunchroom…
we keep the extra take out naplkins for those really nasty spills you just don;t want to use on your kitchen towels… ;)

Using cloth napkins is also a great idea. We have 2-3 inexpensive sets that we rotate through every few days – then just throw them in the wash when you do laundry.

We do the same thing. It’s really easy to do.
