While I was browsing through Halloween ideas on Pinterest a few weeks ago, I came across this tip to use silica gel for pumpkins. If you put a few packets in your pumpkins when you carve them, they will help keep them from rotting quickly. I wish I knew this a few years. I spent hours carving the perfect Jack Skellington pumpkin and it rotted within a few days. Next time you get a new pair of shoes or a bag, save those little packets to they can save your hard work on your pumpkins!
