Choosing a Walt Disney World Resort to “take up residence” while on your trip can be a tough decision! There are so many wonderful Disney resorts to choose from, so how do you know which is best? As a family who prefers the Deluxe Resorts, I can honestly say I haven’t met one I didn’t like. And Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is no exception. Even if our family has chosen to stay at a different resort on our trip, we still try to make it over to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge at least for a meal at one of their great restaurants! This resort, themed after the grand woods of the Northwest US, is amazing and beautiful!
What are the rooms like at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge?
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has several room types to choose from. Most rooms have two queen beds. You can also enjoy a room with Bunk Beds. These rooms have a queen bed and a set of bunks~perfect for families that have kiddos who don’t like to share a bed! Select rooms have King Beds. If you are traveling with more than 4 guests, then you can enjoy a Deluxe Room or a Villa at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
What transportation options are there at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge?
Going to EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom you will need to board a Disney motorcoach. To get the the Magic Kingdom, you get to ride the boat!
Why would I want to stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge?
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has a great location~that is one of the best things about it! Also, in comparison to other Magic Kingdom area resorts, it is typically less per night and is always included in Disney discounts. Second, it has some of the best dining options on Disney property. The Whispering Canyon Cafe, Artist Pointe, and the Roaring Fork Cafe are your dining options here. Third, the theming is fantastic. You really feel like you are in a Pacific Northwest lodge, tucked away from reality. It’s amazing!
Can I see Fireworks from the Wilderness Lodge?
Yes and no. I have heard that if you are in an upper level room, that you can see Happily Ever After at the Magic Kingdom. However, the bonus is that you can see the Electric Water Pageant from the beach or boat docks. Also, you can take the water launch to the other Magic Kingdom area resorts to enjoy Happily Ever After from them.
Are there any disadvantages to staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge?
If I had to share a disadvantage to staying here, it would be that the standard rooms don’t hold families of 5. The only way a family of 5 can stay in a standard room, is if one of your guests is 2 or younger. Otherwise, you will need to stay in a Deluxe Room or a Villa.
Have you enjoyed Disney’s Wilderness Lodge? What did you enjoy about it? I’d love to hear the tips you have about it!

The only thing I didn’t like at the Wilderness Resort was the pool. I stayed there with my family (4 of us) when I was 20 and the pool is very basic and nothing to go crazy about. Other than that, my whole family loved it, the places to eat, the location, the décor, etc.
