Recently Disney has added a new feature to streamline your arrival at the resorts and get you to the parks even quicker, with the Direct-to-Room Check-In at Walt Disney World.
For those guests staying onsite, you have the option of checking in online and receiving a text once your room is ready with the room number, or participating in the traditional check in process at the counter in the lobby. If you choose the direct to room option you will be greeted at a the front door by a CM, simply check in with them and if you are eligible, head straight to your room. If you room is not ready yet, then they will notify you via text when it is.
To take part in the Direct-to-Room service, guests must have completed the online check-in process before their arrival, which includes paying in full for the stay, or adding a credit card and pin number to their account. A phone number to receive text messages or an email address is also required as part of the process.
We have had a good response from the everyone that has used it so far, with a few getting their text messages before they even get in the plane to head to MCO. What do you think of the new process? Are you a fan or think it’s taking Disney in the wrong direction?
If you are staying at Pop Century, make sure you ask for the scavenger hunt!

We Did this on our last stay at Polynesian at Tempe end of February. So easy! And our room was ready before 9 am (even though we weren’t there yet). The welcome packet was waiting in the room.

Does anyone know if this pertains to DVC guests, too? :)
Kelly says
What about the welcome packet? Do they leave that for you in your room or do you not get one now with Direct to Room Check In?
jenny says
Yes, the welcome packet is waiting in the room. It was so nice! We had our room number texted to us the morning of our arrival.
