Have you visited the waterparks at Walt Disney World? If so, then you know how much extra fun they can add to your visit! It is hot in Florida, and in the months of July, August, September, and even October, Disney’s WaterParks can give you some nice relief from the parks while you cool off. But what do Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach offer to guests? Can you really enjoy the waterparks AND the four Disney parks during your stay?
I want to purchase just a one-day waterpark ticket. Does this get me into both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach? Yes! When you buy a one-day waterpark ticket from Walt Disney World, you can hop between both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach waterpark.
How can I use the WaterParks Fun and More Option on my Disney ticket effectively? Let’s say you purchase a 5-day Magic Your Way Base Ticket with the WaterParks Fun and More Option. That means you can enter the Disney parks 5 times AND the Waterparks 5 times. However, you do not have to enter on the same day. For example, Monday you go to Magic Kingdom, and Tuesday you go to Animal Kingdom AND Typhoon Lagoon You have used 2 park entries and 1 of your WaterPark entries. The WaterPark Fun and More Option gives you corresponding entries to the Disney Waterparks, allowing you extra fun!
What should I bring for my day at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? Bring plenty of sunscreen and your sunglasses! You can arrive at the waterparks in your swimsuit and coverup, or you can change in the facilities available. Be sure to have your MagicBand on, as this holds your tickets and charging privileges. Your MagicBand will be fine, even if it gets wet. You may want to bring your own towel, since the rental fee for them is $2. You may also want to bring water shoes. Waiting in line can get hot, and walking on hot concrete all day could be uncomfortable for your feet.
Do I need to get to the waterparks early? It’s always a good idea to get to any Disney park as close to opening as possible. If you want chairs in the shade, you will want to get to the park early. There are chairs in the shade, but not a lot. Also, if you get to the parks early, you can get plenty of fun in before the afternoon Florida storms roll in.
Which one do you recommend if we are traveling with young children? I think of the two, Blizzard Beach is better for younger children. The wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon can be strong, and there is a fun preschool area at Blizzard Beach. If I want to let my little one go up and down the slides at Blizzard Beach, the visibility in the children’s area is better, and I feel more comfortable with her there.

Hi Kristin,
I was looking at traveling to Disney in November, and noticed that the water parks will be closed from October-January. Is that something that happens every year?
Thanks,
Robin

I believe that Blizzard Beach is closed for refurbishment, but Typhoon Lagoon is open.
