Combining a Universal Orlando and Disney World vacation is possible, with a little planning. Learn these 5 Tips For a Universal Studios & Disney World In One Trip.
1. How Many Days For Disney World?
Guests will need to decide how many days they want to plan for Disney World. I recommend at least 1 full day per park. Therefore, a minimum of 4 days for Disney World to explore Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom for one day each. Even with a full day at each, guests will not be able to see and do it all. Some past guests have done 2 days at Magic Kingdom, making for 5 days at Disney World. Additionally Disney World is home to 2 Water Parks.
2. How Many Days For Universal?
Many past guests agree Universal Orlando can be done in 2 days. This gives guests enough time to experience their top picks and explore the parks. Universal Orlando has 2 main parks – Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, connected by Universal CityWalk (a strip of stores & restaurants). Universal Studios also has a water park named Volcano Bay, add a day if you want to experience this.
3. Nearby Attractions
When deciding your length of stay, consider if you want to explore any other nearby attractions. Orlando has more to offer such as SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, Visiting a Beach and more. Decide if anything else is important to add a day for. Character Warehouse is also a worthwhile stop for inexpensive Disney park merchandise. The Character Warehouse is like a treasure hunt, guests never know what they will find.
4. Getting From Disney World To Universal
Of course guests with a car, driving back and forth is an option. However for guests that fly in and do not rent a car, how to get back & forth is a common concern. A cost effective way to get to Universal and back from Disney World (and vice versa) is to take an Uber. Using an Uber calculator, from Disney’s Pop Century Resort to Universal Orlando will cost $15-$18 (estimate only) + tip. Universal Florida also has on-site hotels. Look for Uber promotions to save, currently have a friend refer you to Uber and enjoy your first ride free! Do the same for someone else in you group and enjoy 2 free rides (promotion subject to change). The Universal Orlando Take 2 Transfer is another great option.
5. Biggest Benefit
The biggest benefit of doing both Universal & Disney World in one trip, is paying travel costs only once. If your family/group wants to visit Florida only once than it is worthwhile to plan a trip including everything you want to try and see. Especially for guests flying, double the flight costs add up. There are also packages that will bundle the 2 destinations, potentially saving more than purchasing individually.
