This week’s Disney Fund Deposit is brought to you by…my baby.
That’s right, y’all. At almost five months old, the Teacup has started pulling her weight. Finally, amirite?
A few weeks ago I received this in the mail.
As someone who spends a fair about of their time taking surveys to earn gift cards, this was right up my alley. And best of all, THEY sent it to ME. No pesky qualifying questions required. I went to the website provided, entered my unique code, and answered some questions about the recent birth of my child. And they sent me $5. Even better, they’re going to send a follow up survey in a month to check in around her next big milestone. Thank you very much, Market Strategies International. And a special thank you to the Teacup, for being born and making this survey possible.
Oh, and also for bringing joy into our lives, etc etc.
When we bought our home in the fall of 2017, we were confident that our family looked the way it was going to look forever: two parents, two princesses. Accordingly, we bought a house with three bedrooms: one for the parents, one for the princesses, and one for whoever felt like visiting said parents and princesses.
Along came the Teacup and there went all our perfectly plotted plans.
The most logical choice seemed to leave the big girls sharing and turn the guest room into a nursery. There is enough of an age difference that the big two will always be on roughly the same schedule, while the little will be on a timetable all her own. It made sense to give her a private space where she could (please, please, please) figure out how to sleep (without two big girls petting her face and singing her songs at all hours). Plus, we figure if anyone wants to visit us, we have a very nice air mattress and a comfortable playroom.
We’ve been in the process of converting the guest room into a nursery for about a month, because like all guest rooms, it also doubled as storage. The Teacup has been rooming with us, but any day now she is going to pull an Alice and just pop one leg clean through her bassinet. This is a baby who loves to grow.
The pressure to get the nursery ready became a little more urgent. While I relished the chance to do inventory on my gift closest, I was not so thrilled at finding homes for all the other things we rarely use but I am certain I will need one day. If Marie Kondo’s tidying up is your thing, awesome, release away, but I will need these spare towels until I die.
Finally this week, we were down to fighting shape. The only thing left to go was the bed. We recycled the mattress, because it was old and lumpy and the trash service would come pick it up if we recycled. Win-win. When I asked what we should do with the frame, Mr. B nonchalantly replied, “I’ll list on it Craigslist. See if we can’t get $50 for it.”
Y’all, we did get $50 for it! Two days later! Now my nursery is ready to host my littlest princess and I am swimming in unexpected dollars for my two Disney trips.
I’m not sure if you classify it as found money or as yard sale money, but either way, it is a few steps closer to being Dole Whip money.
