Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue debuted at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort on June 30, 1974. This actually makes this Disney dinner show one of the longest running dinner shows in American History. Multiple generations have come to see the show over the years and 2019 marked its 45th anniversary. Learn more facts you might not have known!
This show was almost named something else. The creative mind behind the show and name was Larry Billman. He had originally come up with the title, “We’re With You, Mother McCree!” to a closer version to the current name, “Whoop-Dee-Doo-Revue”. Then, it was settled to the name as we know now – Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.
Early years of this show was a part of the Disney World Fine Arts College Workshop program. It originally included 6 college students. Today come see Claire de Lune, Johnny Ringo, Dolly Drew, Six Bits Slocum, Flora Long and Jim Handy on stage!
Even some of wait staff have their own following after working at Pioneer Hall for decades!
The music has much remained the same in this dinner show, since opening. There was only one change in music since 1979. This was when Strawberry Short Cake Walk replaced Apple Pie Hoedown (when apple pie was replaced by Strawberry Shortcake on the menu)!
Just how much food does this dinner show serve up? The nightly numbers may astonish you. Food is all you care to enjoy with unlimited draft beer, wine and sangria for guests 21+!
