You may have heard of the term “split stay” when talking about staying at Disney World Resorts. If you have not, now you are wondering – what is a split stay? A Split stay simply refers to splitting your vacation between 2 Resorts. Guests will start their Disney vacation at one resort and end their vacation at another!
Not only is this a great way to check out 2 different Disney Resorts, after all it is hard to pick just one to stay at! There is another big reason to do a split stay on your Disney World vacation.
Before we get to that, let’s discuss split stays a bit more. A split stay at Disney World resorts is considered 2 separate bookings and guests will receive 2 reservation numbers (plus, 2 deposits will be needed). Transfering your luggage is a breeze, simply let bell services know you are doing a split stay and they will transfer your luggage to your next Disney resort for you!
Now, The BIG Reason To Do A Split Stay At Disney World Resorts!
It has to do with the dining plan! A Disney Dining plan can take the guess work out of ordering food for your Disney World vacation. Guests pay up front for a Disney Dining plan and then can use their meal and snack credits as they please throughout their vacation. However, it is a good chunk of change to put upfront for a dining plan. This can hold guests back from trying it. Furthermore, you can not apply a Disney dining plan to part of your Disney stay – it is all or nothing. UNLESS, you are doing a split stay! For guests doing a split stay they can actually get a Disney Dining Plan for just part of their vacation to try it out.
Therefore if you have considered adding a Dining Plan but was hesitant on having it for your whole Disney vacation consider a split stay. Then apply it to just your first half or last part of your Disney vacation. Does 2 Disney Resorts and trying out the Disney Dining Plan on your next vacation sound amazing?! It does to me!

We have done a split stay, and it allowed us to stay at a luxury resort for a few nights!
I didn’t know about the dining plan though, that is GREAT for us, because we are always debating on the dining plan!
