If you were celebrating Easter at Disney World (along with no less than 100,000 of your closest friends and family…), your kids might be getting that $98 Easter basket from Disney Floral and Gifts delivered to your resort room. But since most of us are not at Disney this Easter and responsible for making our kids Easter baskets, I want to know what is in yours!
My mother in law made Emily 3 dresses for her American Girl dolls. Plus both kids are getting a slinkie, a rubber watch, and some candy. I am headed to the Dollar Tree today to add a few more items to their basket. We don’t really go all out for Easter.
What is in your kids baskets?
Susan says
My daughter is 11. Target had a bunch of DVD’s for 6.99. I bought Diary of a Wimpy Kid. For an 11 year old she has some pretty expensive tastes. For one she loves Vera Bradley. A few times a year the Vera website has some incredible sales with free shipping. I stock up then and save for Easter and Christmas. Walgreens had some cute Disney cookies on a stick for 2.00. I try to downplay the candy but do put in a chocolate bunny and some Peeps.
Samantha says
My brother is 6, and we got him the air dart shooter that looks like a bunny (hopefully you guys know what I mean), two mini things of bubbles, two toy story easter eggs with candy, one larger cars easter egg with 40 stickers, a ring pop, the dozen container of egg shaped gum, and a mini thing of goldfish. He doesn’t really play with toys, he’d rather just play with his hockey stick, and we’re leaving for disney two weeks from today, so this was our best bet for not wasting our money.

I give my kids each a bathing suit for Easter!

It’s my son’s first Easter! He is 11 months old now and he is ahead in development. He’s been walking from 9 months and eating table food from around then too. I got him one of the Khols Cares stuffed Eric Carl caterpillars, a backyardigans book that has a pen that reads to him, a small chocolate duck (he loves rubber ducks!), and a pack of peeps. We also bough him a personalized duffel bag from the online Disney store personalized in orange with mickey on it. It could be counted as a birthday/Easter present. I didn’t want to do too much because his Birthday party is coming up really soon.
Shannon says
My DD will be getting a new pair of swim goggles, Tangled on Blu-Ray, a Webkinz Shimmer Bunny, a chocolate bunny and a bit of candy.

We always make my daughter (7 next month) a basket with very little candy. I too shop at Dollar Tree for a bunch of basket filler. I love that store for so many things! We just got one in town just before xmas.

Larisa says
Oh AND Pink Minnie Crocs for the summer and for our trip!
Lillian says
At our house the easter bunny is going to be leaving our 3 year old’s basket with just the big candy bunny (this year an M&M bunny) and the grass. Then she’s going to have to look around to find all of the goodies that he’s hid for her. She’ll be finding plastic jungle animals, bubble stuff, jewelry, a book, some plastic M&M eggs (free, whoo!!) and a few other things. I’m hoping to find a DVD to add to the collection. And we’ll put a few jelly beans in some plastic eggs that she can find too.
Traci says
My boys 6 and 9 are getting i tunes gift cards, yo-yos, spongebob pens/notepads, free candy, books, and a few trinkets
MY 2 yr old DD is getting an iCarly dvd (her favorite), books and a few trinkets
The centerpiece for the baskets will be the choc bunny.
Also a lady bug garden. We are already doing the butterfly garden again and really love it.
Larisa says
We did the ladybug garden last year and it is really neat. Daughter wants to do the butterflies again next time. I would love to do the praying mantis one, but it says that one egg case will produce up to 225 praying mantises and you have to release all but one or two. I am afraid the egg case will hatch when we arent home and then the cats will go after them and I’ll have 225 praying mantises aroudn my house. :(
Jiya says
We just got our ladybugs in the mail yesterday — my kids are so excited to watch them. Hope they survive to adulthood so we can release them in the yard!
Cindy says
Forgot to say that we save any wrapped candy to use in my sons birthday pinata. gets rid of the candy easily! We do the same thing for Halloween since one of our sons birthday is in teh first party of November.
Cindy says
My mom makes all our easter candy, with the exception of jelly beans and peeps. SHe makes the most amazing chocolates!! I have 4 boys (12,11,10, & 3)I am putting some DVDs that I found at Target recently for $3.99, along with a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant(for the older boys), bubbles for the little one(still trying to find the colored ones) and they will probably each get a new kite (they like to fly them in teh field across the street) and maybe a game. I was thining about getting our whole family a new tent since we really need one, our old one is almost 20 years old and not in great shape. The older boys may also get some things that they need for baseball(like baseballs or batting gloves) or for boyscouts (like a pocket knife or compass) I usually try to kill two birds withone stone by getting them things that they need for upcoming events (like summer camp) or sports (like baseball)
Stacey says
My 4 four year old is getting Disney Princess Squinkies! I went to 3 different Walmart stores to find them!
April says

An Alice in Wonderland costume (Grand Floridian edition!!) $10 at our local JBF sale. We bought her a few little things from vacation at Babyland General Hospital. Like Cabbage Patch Kids toothbrush, mini figure, zipper pull. I scoped out some used books and wooden puzzles at local consignment shops. Also a Sing A Ma Jig $2, and a pretty ruffle lovey blanket with the tags still on $1, from our local boat sale (like JBF’s 3 day weekend sale). Of course FREE and almost FREE Easter candy with coupons and sales.Plus a bunch more…Can not wait!!!!!
Sarah Curtis says
My daughter is 8 and my son is 4. They usually get a couple eggs filled with candy, a dvd, a book, some sort of plush, a toothbrush and toothpaste(Santa and the bunny give them candy but want to remind them to clean their teeth) and then something appropriate for each, like an action figure for my son and lip glosses for my daughter.
Rebecca says
I have two daughters ages 4 and 8 and of course they are little princesses! But in their baskets, for my 4 year old, she LOVES Mickey and Minnie, so she is getting a Mickey band set (drums, tambourine, maracas, a flute, and some other nise makers) from Walgreens! It was like half off for only $5. She is getting some Mickey stickers, and the cutest ZHU ZHU pet with bunny ears that were BOGO at CVS a few weeks back and nearly free candy! My oldest daugher really has been wanting Squinkies so I found those for half off at Walgreens Like $5 and Princess stickers and nearly free candy and the other ZHU ZHU pet with bunny ears! We really scaled back this year and I am so glad we did!
Laura Miller says
We are going with a spring theme. Our girls are getting Disney princess sunglasses, bubbles, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, Toy Story mini doodlers and candy.
Anna says
I have three girls- 9, 7, and 15 months. The older two are really into Bath and Body Works so I’ve saved a bunch of freebies (courtesy of the LUV BBW club). I also got them bubble toys (all three) they requested at Gordman’s on sale (very cheap!) and candy on sale (eggs, grass, basket on sale, too- we are military so we can’t always keep holiday stuff from year to year). I always try and find cheap coloring books (like a dollar). The little one is getting several Elmo items from the dollar spot at Target. : ) I also saved some for her stocking at Christmas. : ) We try to focus on the real reason for Easter- celebrating that Christ paid the ultimate price and rose victorious! : ) Happy Easter, everyone! : )
jenn says
we will be one of the 100,000 plus at Disney for Easter!!! we are staying at the Contemporary, I did the baskets myself. each one is getting a canvas bucket from pottery barn with their name on it, 2 books each, a stuffed animal, sunglasses, lip gloss for the 3 year old diva, a nasa spaceship for the 7 year old and some candy. thinking I will probably get them each a bunny shaped rice crispy treat from disney once we get there friday. I love Easter at disney! the resorts do fun egg hunts and the kids have a blast!
Lisa says
My son is 23 and just coming home from graduating University, then he is off to China for 4 months to work and hopefully learn mandarin…so….his basket is consisting of power bars, chocolate eggs, cookies, notes and cards for while he is away, a clothes line, laundry detergent, sunscreen and all kinds of stuff he will need that far away from home. Not quite the same as having a little one.
Cindy says
very cool! Hope he has a safe trip! Wish him luck (and you too ;) )
Lisa says
the kids each are getting a Blu-Ray (I only paid $4.99 shipping – got the movies FREE from Disney Movie Rewards for my birthday) candy FREE or got cheap, stuff I got from the $1 bin at Target, Buzz Operation (pd $2 – Walmart), Camp Rock game (cheap at Disney store 2 yrs ago).
Kelli says
I have the Easter basket stuff for the girls stashed away in the closet and can’t get to it right now to peek… but I can tell you what I got for them *last* Easter until I get a chance to look at the other stuff.
Last year I found two really soft fleece lambs and two really soft fleece blankets with lamb faces embroidered on them for cheap (75% off at Bath & Body Works the day after Christmas) and saved them for Easter. The lambs went in their baskets along with a pair of Easter themed socks each, a plastic egg filled with jellybeans, and two little chocolate sheep (Lindt sells a strip of 5 foil wrapped sheep at Target, also the same sort of thing in little chocolate bunnies or little chocolate ladybugs. They each got two and I ate the extra!).
My oldest daughter (then 12) also had a pack of fancy colored pencils, a beaded bookmark, and a pink notepad with white bunnies on it that I had found at a dollar store. The toddler had some mini containers of Play-Doh (another after-Christmas clearance find) and a pink flowered umbrella (more Target clearance — saved from after the *previous* Easter!).
Afterward the girls hunted in the yard for the eggs they had colored the night before. Once they finished finding the eggs, they traded in their eggs for a prize — the fleecy sheep blanket that matched their new fleece lambs. They were both really happy and I had been able to keep the cost (and candy consumption) to a minimum.
Christina S. says
This was my first year making my daughter an Easter basket and it was fun! She’s getting bubbles, lollipops (to lick), a Peter Rabbit book & a stuffed bunny. That’s not a lot, but she’s only 1. I also made a basket for my niece & she’s getting a coloring book, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a Tinkerbell handheld electronic game (from the dollar store!), a tinkerbell cup & candy! And of course, my hubby is getting lots of candy!
Crystal says
Both my kids are getting lots of candy – also got the movie Tangled for my daughter and The Incredibles for my son. My daughter also got a Barbie fairy doll and Ariel sunglasses while my son got some monster trucks and Phinneas and Ferb sunglasses. I try not to go too crazy with the candy because they will also get an Easter basket from grandparents on each side.
Jenn Green says
I like to put swimsuits in my girls baskets, since we live in S. FLA it is swimming season so rather than put a lot of candy in their baskets, I take the opportunity to put in the spring stuff I would have to buy them anyways. It is a healthier alternative and the EB comes out a hero!
I also include a Disney DVD so our collection can continue to grow!
Karen Gee says
We are going to be at Disney for Easter! Yeah for us! But I am going to make up my son’s basket as usual. He is 4. He will get mostly starburst, jellybeans, and disney items. He does not like chocolate, so…. I do havea question…. when you are at disney do you do the photo pass?
Thanks.
Cindy says
I do makes keeping track of all your photos so much easier and you don’t have to buy them if you do not want. Also don’t forget to have the photographer to take a picture with your camera too!
Jen says
Yes, get the prepaid package for $100 before you go, and then take advantage of every photographer. Maybe you can split it with someone. Have a blast!
Sharilee says

Megan says
my girls are getting swimsuits and the tangled movie. I only got them one candy that I got free with coupons (they don’t need to rot their teeth and grandma always sends them candy as well). For the eggs I put coins, stickers, silly bands or anything else like that in them. The coins of course go into their disney jar.
Julie says
We are doing a different approach this year, without the whole Easter Bunny story. I realized that we celebrate our risen Lord at church on Easter Sunday, but when our morning consists of eagerness of the Easter basket (much like the Christmas stockings/gifts), and the afternoon consists of egg hunts, we are not putting our focus on The Lord and what He did for us. Soooooo this year we are actually going to do Easter baskets on Saturday before Easter. That way Easter Sunday is spent celebrating Jesus and only Jesus.
In the kids baskets ….
Star Wars movies, Webkinz hamster, bubbles, legos, peanut butter eggs
EOS lotion and lip balm, Vera Bradley wristlet, bath & body sprays/lotions,
Angelina Ballerina movie, Webkinz Shimmer Bunny, Webkinz (Lil) unicorn, Fisher Price snap n style doll and a new Bible since one of our children recently lost theirs.
crystal says
such a good idea!! we may have to try that this year. It seems each yr my daughter gets older, the more it becomes about the the bunny and not Jesus. Her kinder class isnt doing anything because a few dont celebrate easter which is really sad.
Brandy says
dd- age 4 will get a Barbie movie and new leapster game/ ds gets a new didji game & Diary of a Whimpy kid book
We are headed to see the Bunny today so I’ll soon know exactly what type of candy each is asking for–but in my stockpile I have lollipops (from Sams-dh bought the big pack for his office staff but pull out a few for the kids, the menos gum that was Bogo at Publix, and snickers eggs-2 each for now-and some Tootie Roll banks save from Halloween-shoud still be good.
I also have MLP + LPS, and the Disney Princess Polly Pocket dolls I picked up on clearnace after Easter for the past 3 years saved up for dd–I have some mini lego figure sets, a squishy shark for ds and dh likely has a gi joe or star wars figure set aside for him as well.
I also have a handful of Easter books (B. bears, little critter, story of Easter) I picked up on Target clearance last year for them.
I did pick up Easter grass at CVS since it was free via ECB-love those type of deals.
Lisa says
My son is ten and he’s getting a small chocolate bunny (the m&m kind – his favorite candy) another little plastic m&m bunny, some bubbles that you don’t blow – you squeeze the bottle and they pop out and a sock monkey – not traditional but how many stuffed bunnies does one kid need? I’m scouting out walmart today for the deal on the Buzz Operation game since he’s a huge Toy Story fan! My parents are giving all the little kids a marshmallow gun and have set up a target range for them. Should be fun!! He’s not a big candy eater and never gets around to doing anything with all the little stocking stuffer/basket stuffer items so I’ve given up on all that stuff!!
Brandy says
oh, I love the idea of a range for the marshmellow guns–mil bought one for ds for x-mass–hmm, maybe dd is going to get a marshmellow gun for Easter now–hmmm
Melissa says
My kids will be 4 of the 100,000 at Disney. We’re skipping on the baskets this year.

Jen says
We do a different theme to our sons, ages 8 and 6, each year. This year is a get out and play theme since both are addicted to their DS’.
Both: candy (Most for free or cheap thanks to all the deals), chocolate bunny, bug viewers and little potted seeds ($1 section at Target), sidewalk chalk, water balloons. and leather bracelets I had stamped with their names at Disneyland last month.
I also added a few things to personalize each to each son:
DS8: Diary of a Wimpy kid UNO (found at TJ Maxx at such a good price I couldn’t pass!) and a journal for young boys since he insists on writing a lot (just like his mommy :)
DS6: a Dinosaur pizza making kit (he loves to cook) and I am still searching for one more thing to add to the basket. He is a bit harder to shop for since he is still figuring out who he is. I would love to add some baseball stuff since he is playing this year, but helmets do not fit! ;)
Rachel says
You should use the helmet as the basket and put everything else inside of it.
shannon says
mine are getting candy that i got for super cheap or free. snickers eggs, m&m eggs, skittles, ghiardelli squares, some crayola markers i got cheap last back to school season, scuncci head bands i got free at rite aid, chocolate peeps…little bags of mini oreos and chips ahoy i got at rite aid. and i was going to get them each a large chocolate bunny but i think i’m gonna try making some pretty chocolate covered strawberries to put in instead.

RK says
Hm … my husband and I have never discussed doing anything for Easter. His family is Catholic, but he left the church, and my family is Hindu. We want to expose our daughter to all of the family traditions, so we do, for example, celebrate Christmas, but he’s never said anything about doing anything for Easter. His family is from Mexico, and I don’t think they do the egg thing. I think the main Easter tradition in his family is going to church. I will ask him if he did eggs and stuff growing up … our daughter is 20 months old, so getting to the age where she could do that sort of thing.
Donna says

She’s a Dora/Diego fiend!), stuffed bunny and some candy. Son is getting Lego dragons, new Harry Potter movie from Amazon, some Harry Potter activity books, stuffed bunny & candy.

My son is getting the Sky High DVD which was free with my Disney Rewards. He loves this movie and watches it every time it comes on the Disney channel. I also purchased him a new DS game with my Swagbucks Amazon giftcards. My daughter is getting Toy Story 3 which I purchased when it was on sale for $8 at Target. I also found one Toy Story Operation game at Walmart last week. I am trying to cut back on the candy this year but there is still quite a bit thanks to all the recent coupons.

My son is getting a Thirty One Lunch tote with his name on it, a new Toy Story Beach Towel and a few Lego Mini’s and of course a little candy.
My extended family is HUGE. So each of the grandparents and aunts and uncles end up bringing candy and small treats (bubbles, chalk, kites) too. Plus the Easter Egg hunts.. there is no shortage of treats here!

Well….since I’m trying to “minniemise” my whole fam, I’m putting some new summer clothes in their baskets this year. Trying to avoid ODing on the candy! I have found a few things left over from stocking stuffers that I didn’t use at CHristmas and will be using those as well!!

I bet they will love that!

We have three children that we buy for: 5, 15, & 16 years old. Since we have a pool, we purchase new floats, goggles, etc each year for their baskets along with candy, of course.

Diane…I am getting my 13 year old daughter an itunes gift card and some of her favorite candy. I may throw in a cute pair of pj’s as well. For your son you could do a magazine subscription or comic book subscription???

For my teenagers, I have got them McDonalds & Sonic gift cards. They love to go with thier friends on the weekends or after school. The I-tunes is great! I put quarters in thier Easter Eggs last year ($5.00 each) and they loved that. I also buy them the candy down the candy isle not the Easter isle. You can get more with the $1 packs of minibars than with you do with the Easter designs….

I got my tween boy Go Go toys a FREE Walgreens promotion, an Itty Bitty Booklight Target clearance, a clearance yo yo type thing. I also got him a neat Harry Potter Art book at a flash sale from Amazon.com. Snagged him a guitar graphics T-shirt also Target clearance. Took advantage of the Hasbro game coupons and pizza rebate too. With that I got him the game CUPONK with extra balls and stickers as well as travel Connect 4. A few other trinkets and FREE and almost FREE Easter and other candy. Since all of this cost almost nothing he is getting a $50 GC to Universal. He wants to buy some Harry Potter merchandise. He will be shocked and thrilled!!! Can not wait.
