Your Fund: Challenge yourself to save $1 a day

in Your Disney Fund

The thing I love the most about Couponing to Disney is that it’s fun. Another fun way to save towards your trip (or whatever) is to challenge your family to save just $1 a day (on top of the other things you are doing to save). You can even get creative with the ways you save it and get the kids involved.

My husband and I started saving $1 a day early in our marriage. We’ve almost been married 10 years and we are sitting on a pretty nice 10th anniversary trip fund. It really does add up and it’s not hard to do at all.

Be sure to check out all the ways you can add to your fund as you Coupon to Disney!

Do you deposit in a different account and do you do it weekly? I dream of going on a big trip with my husband this would be great.

Yes I have it in an ING account. I usually put the $1 a day in a jar until I get $30 and then I move it into the ING account.

What are some suggestions to get younger kids to save $1 per day?

We give our kids an allowance and have them divide it up- match their tithing and savings and only spend the rest. You live smarter when you have less to work with!

Pay Yourself First! Using separate accounts to divide up your categories and then you can see how much you actually have to work with. I only put in our checking account how much is needed, everything else goes into a different savings account.

I love this…we twist it a little different and always (try to) break a dollar. We pocket the change and put it in our change jar. Between the 2 of us, it averages out to almost $2/day. Not bad for our vacation fund!

That is so smart! My husband and I have been married for three years, but I’m sure if we start now, we can have a nice fund by our 10th anniversary! Thanks for the tip!

This is a great, easy way to start saving. It seems a little silly, but it really works!

I love this. I actually have a Wells Fargo saving account. Its great because they match up to a certain amount each year and I have two nifty things set up on there where once a month $25 is taken from my regular checking account and moved to my savings account. Also, everytime I use my card to pay a bill or jsut use it in general $1 goes to my savings account. It adds up FAST.
