A runDisney event is more than just a race, its a Disney experience. Learn these 7 RunDisney Tips to know before you go.
Before Your Race
In the couple of days leading up to your race be sure to drink plenty of water to hydrate before. Also avoid alcohol, as it is dehydrating, as are salty foods. Avoid heavy meals before your race day. Rest and remaining positive leading up to your race also go a long way.
runDisney Health & Fitness Expo
The runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is where runners can pick up their bibs and more. This is your race headquarters. This is also where runners can purchase exclusive event merchandise. Take time to browse all the exhibitors.
Getting To Your Race
Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, Swan Or Dolphin Resorts or Shades of Green will have no worries getting to their race. Complimentary runDisney transporation is prvided for guests staying at mentioned locations to all events, and from all events as well.
Race Day Warm Up
Do not overlook your race day warm up. For ultimate performance, practice your warm up 45 minutes prior to race start time.
RunDisney recommends the following:
- 5 minutes – slowly walk
- 5 minutes – normal walk
- 10 minutes – run, walk, run
- 5-10 minutes – walk
- if time remains – do 4-8 acceleration gliders
Cheering Section
Bring your cheering section with you, as spectators are invited to watch runners at the start and finish lines at each event. This way friends and family can participate as well.

Cool Down
Crossing the finish line is such an amazing feeling! However your body deserves a cool down. Make sure to walk for at least 1/2 a mile after completion, this will avoid cramping. Hydration is still important, even after the race. Refuel your body with an appropriate snack after cooling down.
Show Off Your Medals
Disney World Marathons have medals for race completers. These vary by event, each event will have a unique theme with themed medals. Take a few moments to capture photos with your medals in front of Disney icons.
