Traveling with a 6-9 year old Wilderness Explorer? Here is their Animal Kingdom Plan.
Fastpass+ reservations to make: Tusker House for 11:15 am lunch
Dining reservation to make: Kilimanjaro Safari Fastpass+ for 12:15 – 1:15; Expedition Everest Fastpass+ for 2:30 – 3:30; Kali River Rapids Fastpass+ reservation for 3:30 – 4:30
*Arrive at Animal Kingdom at least 30 minutes before the gates open
*Grab your Times Guide and map of the animals
*When the park opens, head to Dinoland
*Ride Triceratop Spin 2-3 times
*Ride Primeval Whirl (if your kids are into roller coasters; If they love it, go again!)
*Ride Dinosaur (this ride could be a little scary for kids, watch a Youtube video first to see if they would like it)
*Exit Dinoland and head towards Africa
*Stop at the Cast Member located just up the hill from Dinoland by the Ice Cream Cart. They are part of Wilderness Explorers. Ask for a book and complete the first badge. Stop at additional Cast Members along the way to earn more badges (hint: mark off the badges you earn on the map)
*Head back to Africa for the 10:30 am performance of The Lion King Show (just arrive about 15 minutes before the show starts and you’ll get a seat)
*Arrive at Tusker House at 11:15 am for your reservation
*Use your Kilimanjaro Safari Fastpass for 12:15 – 1:15
*Take the path to Asia and complete badges along the way
*Complete badges in Asia
*Use the Expedition Everest Fastpass+ for 2:30 – 3:30
*Grab an ice cream treat from Anandapur Ice Cream Truck
*Use the Kali River Rapids Fastpass+ or choose Na’vi River Journey instead, reservation for 3:30 – 4:30 (don’t forget to use the free lockers to store your valuables)
*If the park is closing at 5 pm on the day of your visit, make your way to the exit now completing any badges you pass along the way
If the park is open until 6 pm, visit The Boneyard to complete the badges there and let your child play for 30 minutes.
You might also be able to squeeze in some character meet and greets along the way. Animal Kingdom usually has short waits for characters. Just judge each line you see and if it 10 families or less, get in line.
