Are you planning your first trip? You are probably wondering what is dinner like on a Disney Cruise. It is one of the biggest concerns among Guests as to what this meal will be like. After all, you are out in the middle of the ocean and you are at Disney’s mercy.
Seating Times – When you booked your cruise, you are able to choose between two different dining times. Main Seating is at 5:45 PM and Late Seating is at 8:00 PM. Consider your family’s habits at home when choosing your seating time. Don’t forget the time change! What is 5:45 PM on the ship could be 2:45 PM back home!
Tables – The tables in the dining room sit between 4 to 15 people. You could be seated at a table just for your family or you could be assigned dinner mates. Disney does try to choose a family that resembles yours in ages and life experiences. Our first cruise we ate alone. On our second cruise, we had amazing table mates who had children with them close to my children’s ages. You can request a table for just your family and Disney might accommodate that request.
Rotation – When you arrive for the cruise, you will be assigned your dining rotation. Each ship has 3 dining rooms and you will be assigned to a different dining room for the first 3 nights of your cruise. If your cruise is more than 3 nights, you will begin to repeat the rotation. Sometimes the second time you dine in the restaurant they will offer a completely different menu.
Servers – You will be assigned a main server, assistant server and a head server. These 3 servers will travel with you every evening to each of the dining rooms. They will get to know your family and your dining needs. If you have allergies, you’ll only have to explain it on the first night since you’ll always have the same server.
Children – If your children are picky eaters or like to eat the same things, let your server know. They can make sure your child has that dish every night. If your child wants to rush back to the kid’s club, ask your server to have their food waiting on the table each night when you arrive. If your kids loved a dish in a different restaurant, let your server know. They can get it for you no matter what dining room you are in.
I am sure that dinner will be incredible on your cruise!
