Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the newest resort on Disney property. It is in the Value Resort category, and is located very close to Disney’s Pop Century Resort. In fact, you can walk to Pop Century from Art of Animation. Not only is it the best themed resort on Disney property, especially in the Value Category, but it is fantastic for larger families, and those looking for the ultimate kid-appeal in their Disney resort. Today, we are going to talk about Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and maybe you will be calling it “home” on your next Walt Disney World vacation!
How many guests can sleep in the rooms at Art of Animation? Art of Animation is broken down into four sections. The Little Mermaid Building houses standard rooms for families of 4, plus one under 3 in a Pack and Play. Next to the Little Mermaid area is the Lion King Family Suites, followed by the Finding Nemo Family Suites, and then the Cars Family Suites. The Family Suites sleep 6 plus one under 3 in a pack and play. These suites make for a GREAT option for larger families, or those with young children who might appreciate a separate sleeping space for young ones.
What are the pros to staying at Art of Animation? In my opinion, you cannot go wrong staying at Art of Animation. First, it is home to the largest pool on Disney Property~the Big Blue Pool. And when they say big, they mean big. It is the LARGEST pool on Disney property. Second, the theming is amazing. Disney’s films the Lion King, Finding Nemo, Cars, and the Little Mermaid are some of the most popular films, and they really come to life here. Also, the Landscape of Flavors food court has healthier, and tastier selections than some of the other resorts on property. Art of Animation has dedicated buses to the parks, and you can walk to Pop Century from here, if you’d like to explore that resort or perhaps eat at their food court as well.
What are the cons of staying at Art of Animation? There are very few cons. One is the theming. Yes, I just told you how awesome the theming is, and it is amazing. However, it is very bright and “in your face” theming. If you prefer more of a muted Disney theme to your resort, then Art of Animation may not be for you. One disadvantage to the Little Mermaid rooms is that they can be an 8-10 minute walk from the main building, and are somewhat on the small side. They are good for 4 guests, but when you put a pack and play in them, it gets tight.
Is Art of Animation over priced for a Value Resort? Considering the aspects of AoA, I don’t think so. Unlike the other value resorts, the suites are housed in buildings with interior hallways, a resort feature that is only found at the Deluxe Resort level at Disney. The resort was built in 2012, so it is still relatively new, and holds so much more family appeal than the other value resorts. Also, the Little Mermaid rooms are not over priced in comparison to the other values. These rooms may price a tad higher, but not so much that you shouldn’t consider staying there. Plus, the Big Blue Pool, Sketch Artist of the Day, playground, jogging trails and other amenities put it in a class by itself.
What is the best room location at Art of Animation? In my opinion, the Finding Nemo Suites at Art of Animation are ideal. They are centrally located to the Big Blue Pool, as well as the main building with the dining, shopping, and transportation.
