I’m back! Did you miss me? I missed you.
You’ll notice that I am a week behind on my fund deposits. This is because I was at church camp with a few hundred middle schoolers. The Wi-Fi was spotty, the food was dodgy and the kids were crazy. I’m still getting my bearings, but savings waits for no one, So what better way to get back into the swing of things then just getting right back in to the swing on things?
My final grocery trip of the month happened right before I left. My budget was $77.88 and I ended up spending $44.81. So what to do with all that rollover? Right into the Fund! Gift cards were my friend this week as well. I cashed out for $20 in Target G]gift cards from Playground Crew, an online forum for parents and received $18 from an independent study I qualified for through Swagbucks.
A question we see a lot in SavEars is how gift cards become money for the Fund. The Saving to Disney course breaks down a bunch of different ways to make your gift cards work for you. I use the gift cards for what I normally would have purchased, let’s say groceries at Target. Then the cash I would have spent on those groceries goes into the fund. I keep track of it using the worksheets provided with the course. Those worksheets might be my favorite part of the course. I love a good worksheet. And I love knowing where my money is.
Total Goal: $3500
Total Deposit: $71.57
Grocery Rollover: $33.07
Target Giftcard: $20 (from Playground Crew)
Amazon Giftcard: $18.50 (from Swagbucks study)
Still Need: $2932.39.
And just like that, I am officially out of the $3000’s! What a feeling!
How’d your week go? Any good gift cards? Let me know all about it in the comments!
