Hey food lovers! Good to see you! I was gone for a week, because, get this, I did not buy groceries for a week. Here is how it shook down: My mother was in town (for my bigger little’s birthday), my husband had a huge event at his job (that was largely catered), and then we had a birthday party (that left us with about 789 leftover giant Costco pizzas. Approximately.)
The first night of this huge event, they had Qdoba for everyone involved. I stayed to help clean up (like you do) and the volunteer coordinator says, “You’re so sweet for helping, but you know, I was thinking about just sending this all home with you.” What now? “Yeah,” she continued “there’s not enough to use for tomorrow, but it’s too much to throw away. You can put it to use, right?” Um, YES. Which is how I went home with two trays of delicious Qdoba meat. Ya’ll know how we feel about protein in this house. So between these great leftovers and the catered breakfasts and lunches for Mr. Kristen B, all I needed to supply was the veg. Which I always have on hand.
Moral of the story. Volunteer! (Not just for the food perks ;) )
So I went into this week with double my normal budget, which is a good thing because there was a huge meat sale at my Kroger. And, again, ya’ll know how we feel about meat in this house!
