Disney World is the most magical place on earth. People from all over the world visit to walk down Main St USA in Magic Kingdom and everything else Disney World has to offer. However, this unfortunately means germs are everywhere as well. Avoid getting sick at Disney with these 10 tips!
Antibacterial Wipes
Such as the Antibacterial Wipes pictured above from the Dollar Tree, these will be your friends at Disney. Use Antibacterial Wipes upon arrival at your Resort room. Use them to wipe down door handles, light switches, remotes and other surfaces. A quick wipe down can save from many germs and a sick-free Resort stay. Look for wipes that kill norovirus germs.
Wash Hands
This is an obvious one to prevent germs, there is nothing better than soap and water to thoroughly clean your hands. When you have the chance to do so, take it.
Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer is an alternative when washing hands is not easily accessible. Perfect for use after attractions, as many guests have sat there before you.
Minimize Touching
This may be tough at Disney, however be mindful of what you and your children are touching. For instance, when waiting in queue’s at Disney, avoid touching the chain ropes unnecessary over and over again.
Water
Drinking water is very important for our health. Drinking enough water during your vacation will help keep you hydrated. Especially during a Disney vacation, where walking 10,000 steps a day is a low number, drink water to avoid feeling run down.
Rest
A Disney vacation can be grueling. Listen to your body and everyone else’s pace in your group. Rest when you need to. A mid-day break at your Resort is a great way to avoid the hot afternoon sun and crowds at the park. Head back for a swim or a nap, then venture out again later well rested. Trying to do park opening to park closing each day can simply be too much.
Swimming
Swimming is a favorite activity to many on a Disney vacation, their pools are amazingly themed. However, for children or adults who do not swim often, consider earplugs to avoid swimmer’s ear. Also, keep the ears dry after swimming by tilting head and wiping ears dry.
Overprotection
People from all over the world visit Disney parks, bringing their unique germs. For young children that do not have their immune system built up, this can make sickness more likely. While remaining germ-free at home is great, the old saying “Let them play in dirt” is still true. Allowing kids to explore their surroundings naturally builds up their immune system and avoiding all germ situations can hinder this. Therefore, overprotection can actually be a cause for getting sick.
Vitamins
Some past guests swear by multi-vitamins, probiotics or immune boosting vitamins such as airborne for their trip. Consider starting vitamins in the months leading up to your vacation. Others choose essential oils such as thieves or elderberry syrup.
Relax
Of all these ways mentioned to reduce sickness at Disney, one of the best pieces of advice is just to relax and enjoy. Avoiding all germs will not be possible, however stressing over it can cause more harm than good.
