I asked the SavEars what mistakes they made on their first trip that they would like to advise others against and put together this list of 12 Mistakes Not To Make On Your First Disney World Trip. Enjoy!
Jumping from park to park because of dinner reservations. We make dining reservations at the park we plan on going to that day or at least for half a day. This way I don’t feel like we are loosing so much time. – Mary A.
Not paying attention when booking fast passes…. Figure out where each ride is at each park and give yourself time to get to each destination. – Erin W.
If you are staying in Walt Disney World resort, do NOT drive to Magic Kingdom thinking you will get there quicker. You end up in a massive crowd waiting for the monorail! Just ride the bus. Always ride the bus! – Andrea J.
Booking fast passes for early morning. Have them a little later for when it gets crowded. And look at a map to see if times make sense and you aren’t zig zagging across the park! – Tammy L.
Do not criss cross the parks to do the rides you want in the order you want. Do what you want in the section you’re in and then move on. – Larisa B.
Do not waste snack credits on bottled water. It is free at all the snack locations and quick-service restaurants. Just ask! – Laurie O.
Not using hand sanitizer frequently enough and ending up sick. Disney is one nasty place. – Lisa C.
Do not wear new shoes to the parks. Your feet will thank you. Nikki R.
Not feeding everyone every two hours. Took until my 4th trip to realize it wasn’t the crowds, the heat, or the lines making us grumpy. It was the lack of food. So plan out or carry some snacks so if the family gets crabby, you can snack, even an hour into a line that you don’t want to leave. – Shannyn H.
I haven’t made this mistake, but I know another family who did and their trip was miserable: lack of planning – they tried to wing every park and stood around arguing/debating what to do next. They wasted so much time and disagreed so much. She came home and said she doesn’t understand how people enjoy Disney. I always tell people to have a plan, but be flexible…things happen/something else catches your attention – it’s okay. And you can’t do it all, so I always say have everyone pick 3 musts in each park and get those done – everyone feels they were listened to/got to do what they want – everything else is bonus. – Jean S.
Sit down dinners every day. I got SICK of quitting fun to run to a reservation! We do quick service now with 1 table service a trip. So much better. We do rest just not in a restaurant. – Shenna M.
Not drinking enough WATER. I have a horrible habit of over drinking sodas or, even worse, not drinking at all. Even when it isn’t summer, being dehydrated catches up with your body quickly. – Ashley G.
