Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party is a ticketed event at Magic Kingdom. It typically occurs late August through Halloween. Here are my 16 best tip for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party.
Dress Up
Dressing up is part of the fun! Remember any guest can dress up at the Halloween Party, unlike regular park days where only children can. Read 10 group costumes ideas for inspiration.
Costume Guidelines: no impersonating character such as signing autographs, must be family-friendly with no weapons, adults are not allowed to wear masks and their costumes can not drag on ground (such as floor length princess dresses) plus capes can not be worn past mid waist. Guests under the age of 13 may wear a mask as long as it doesn’t cover the entire face and eyes are visible. As always, using good judgement is encouraged.
Dress Comfortably
Costumes should still be practicable for walking around for hours. Keep in mind, the hot weather in Florida, read Weather by Month for average temperatures. Also, comfortable shoes will be your friend, read 7 shoe recommendations for Disney.
Bring An Extra Bag
Disney World does provide bags (small plastic bags), however they are far too small for the amount of candy you can accumulate. Guests get a lot of candy, and then a bit more on top of that. Therefore, bring a larger bag to dump smaller bags into, a backpack works as well.
Plan
Are you coming for the candy, shows, characters or attractions? You will not be able to do it all, so prioritize what is most important and make a plan based on must do’s to your group.
Candy
Don’t wait for candy in the very beginning of the party, lines will slow down after the initial rush. Cast Members even hand out candy as you are leaving the party. Therefore, wait to collect candy later in the evening, plus it gets heavy to carry around. Every guest, young and young at heart is invited to trick or treat. Even if there are no children in your group, adults are just as welcome to snag candy as children. Furthermore, guests do not have to be in costume to Trick or Treat.
If someone in your group has an allergy, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party does a great job of accommodating allergy-free options. Read 3 Steps For Allergy Free Options At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to get your treats!
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is a free interactive game guests can sign up for at the Firehouse on Main St USA. The cards you receive are yours to keep, during the party be sure to grab your party-exclusive Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card.
Parade
The parade, Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade, is a highlight of the party. Do know, there are 2 showing of this parade each party night, weather permitting. The 2nd parade will almost always be less crowded. Skipping the first parade can be a great time to ride attractions or get in line for a character. Find a seat in Frontierland for viewing.
MagicShots
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party brings fun and exclusive MagicShots for party goers. Past ones have included a poison apple and the Headless Horseman. Ask the PhotoPass photographers for any available MagicShots.
Get There Early
Guests with party tickets are allowed to enter Magic Kingdom at 4pm (with Party Ticket Only). Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party begins at 7pm and guests without a Party ticket will have to leave. This essentially gives guests 3 bonus hours at Magic Kingdom.
Fastpass+
Fastpass+ are not allowed when the party begins (at 7pm), however guests can utilize Fastpass+ from 4-7pm. Therefore, party guests can use 3 Fastpass+ for: 4-5pm, 5-6pm and 6-7pm.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
Disney Villains take over the stage at Cinderella’s Castle during the party. There are 2 showings of this each evening, during party nights. Once again, as with the parade the first showing is a great time to head elsewhere in the party and then watch the 2nd showing of Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular instead.
Dinner
Have an early dinner before event starts, or eat a Quick Service meal in Magic Kingdom between 4-7pm. The earlier the better to not miss party time. Dining Reservations during the party are not a good idea, as they take up too much valuable time away from the party. Instead, as you get hungry (for something besides candy) during the party, enjoy Party Exclusive treats and foods available for purchase at various locations.
Characters
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party brings rare Characters to Magic Kingdom for meet & greets. Remember, you can come back and ride the attractions, some of these characters are not available on a regular basis. Learn where and when meet & greets for characters are to see if there are any must meets. Jack and Sally and the Seven Dwarfs are a favorite to many and lines can become long if you wait. Plus, see Mickey and friends in their Halloween wear.
Back of Park
Once the party begins, head to the back of the park and work your way towards the front. Many guests get caught up in the front of the park when the party begins, plus the guests just arriving.
Fireworks
There is only one showing of the party exclusive fireworks spectacular – Happy HalloWishes Fireworks. End your night singing to frightfully good songs such as, “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” from the Haunted Mansion attraction, “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” from The Little Mermaid and more!
Rest
On the day of your party be sure to rest, take a nap early afternoon or have a relaxing morning. Party ticket holders can enter as early as 4pm and the party can last as late as 12am. That is up to 8 hours of walking!
