These are a couple random tips that probably won’t save you much money, but they are handy:
- When getting ready to paint, take a regular paper plate and glue it to the bottom of the can. It will catch the drips and potentially save your carpet!
- Did you know there are tabs on the side of aluminum foil boxes that you can push in to keep the foil from coming out of the box as you roll it?
- There is a way to close a bag of chips without clips or rubber bands and without the fear of it coming undone. Watch this video to find out how.
- If you need to slice a piece of meat into small pieces, try partially freezing it first. It will make the meat stiffer making it easier to slice (I do this ALL the time!)
- Instead of throwing away the paper from a stick of butter, put it into a baggy in the fridge. When the recipe calls for buttered pan, use the paper to butter the pan.

I like the paint can and chip bag idea!
For bread bags, my mom will twist the open end of the bag, then fold it back over the remaining bread. Like the chip bag trick, you need to have used up a bit of the food first, or it won’t work.

I usually use a plastic drop cloth to protect my floor when painting. But, one thing I always do is…take a paper coffee filter and poke the paint brush through it. Then the paint won’t run down onto your hand or fly onto other areas that you aren’t painting.

I’ve been too lazy to do the butter thing! lol The chip thing was the coolest ever! And, I will definitely have to try that meat thing! I HATE slicing up chicken or anything so maybe this will help motivate me! And, I had no clue about the aluminum foil!! Thanks! (yes, I’m a sucker for odd little tidbits! lol)

I paint stuff all the time and have never heard of the paper plate thing. I love that!! And my mom used to do the butter thing, I had forgotten about it but will now have to start doing that. Thanks!
