This is a guest post from Patricia…
Endless play dates, coordinating everyone’s schedules, making dinner, and of course saving for Disney; moms (and dads) are busier than ever. Saving for Disney requires a ton of sacrifices but alone time and date night should not be one of them. True, babysitting can be expensive especially if you don’t have family near by, but in this we are not alone. Everyone needs a night out occasionally that’s why the moms from my play group and I have devised a way to get everyone a night out and a day off by only sacrificing a day every other month. We call it mommy swap and it’s worked so well for us that I wanted to share it with everyone. All you need is a play group and other willing parents.
Every other week we all take our kids to one of the moms houses and the rest of us go out for the night. We have a rotating schedule so that every person watches the kids once every other month. Let’s use Sarah, Jenny, Anne, and Don as our example parents in the following calendar.

With this plan everyone gets a night or day out three times in a two month period and you only have to watch the kids one night! Time out for the parents to do whatever they would like and best of all you don’t have to dip into your Disney savings to do it because free babysitting!
The night you have the kids plan something fun for them to do that is free. We’ve had movie night (pop popcorn and put on a Disney DVD), pirate day (make pirate hats and go on a scavenger hunt), superhero night (superhero movie and design your own paper plate mask). Now you have free entertainment for the kids and free babysitting, win win!
Enjoy your new found kid free nights.
