Don’t make one of these 10 Mistakes Guests Make At Disney Resort Pools:
1. Assuming you can use any pool. If you aren’t a guest of that Disney Resort, you can not use their pool. DVC Members are allowed to hop between pools at DVC Resorts but that is the only exception. Another exception is Port Orleans Riverside & Port Orleans French Quarter (these Resorts are Sister Resorts and pools are interchangeable for guests).
2. Assuming the lifeguard will watch your children. The lifeguard is not your babysitter. They are there to watch the entire pool, not just your child. Keep your eye on your own children. You are at Disney World to have fun as a family after all.
3. Assuming you can be as loud as you want. Keep the volume down! Not everyone wants to hear you hooting and hollering especially if you use foul language. Be respectful of the people around you.
4. Assuming the kids can go to the pool by themselves. Children under 12 must have adult supervision.
5. Assuming your baby can get in the pool without a swim diaper. Make sure you pack one! Your baby can not go in the pool without a diaper or with a regular one. They are not made for the pool and will bust open and cause the pool to be closed for cleaning. Don’t do that to people.
6. Assuming you don’t have to wear your MagicBand. Cast Members will check your band to confirm you are a Disney Resort guest. Make sure you wear it but take off any accessories so you don’t lose them in the pool.
7. Assuming the pool will be cold. Disney’s pools are heated in the winter time for Guest enjoyment. And in the hottest part of the summer the water is heated by the sun and it isn’t always as refreshing as you might hope.
8. Assuming there is only one pool. Most of the resorts have more than one pool. The main pool is usually the best themed and has a pool bar. The other pools are usually referred to as quiet pools and offer a more relaxing experience.
9. Assuming the pool is open all night. Most of the Disney pools close between 10 PM and 12 AM. Check the posted sign at the pool for accurate pool hours.
10. Assuming the pool is the only entertainment. During the day, most resorts have pool games, music and even a party. At night, many resorts show a Disney movie poolside. Swimming isn’t the only way to have fun by the pool.

We just stayed at all star sports and pop cemtry last week and both had towels at main pools
If you are staying at either Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter, you can use the pools at both resorts, since they are sister resorts.
I stayed at a value resort (6/2016) and they did have pool side towels.
Question about swim diapers… Does it have to be the disposable kind or can it be the reusable cloth swim diapers??
Disposable
We have used SwimWays cloth swim diapers without issue. Disney honors both.
I wish more people understood #3. Also, while we stayed at CS last week we had a duck land in our pool. It was near me and adorable, so I thought nothing of it. The family at the other end of the pool decided to scare it out of the pool and then their children chased it away. Please don’t be that person to the wildlife. If they drop in and you don’t like it them you should probably move yourself away.
That is one of my biggest heartbreaks at Disney…all the kids I see chasing, swinging or even kicking at, yelling, or otherwise harassing wildlife. I should say all the parents who allow that. I have even seen parents laughing at their kids doing it.
My daughter who was 7 at the time, actually said something to another kid who was trying to kick a duck at WDW last trip. She couldn’t believe they were doing that.
Ducks bring a lot of nasty germs into pools. They should be scared out immediately. Chlorine takes a few minutes to kill some of the common illnesses that could be spread, swimming next to it is setting yourself up for potential illness. (While I absolutely finding kicking the wildlife wrong, in this case, it was best for everyone swimming).
