If you are debating on if you will use the Disney buses or if you will drive, here are 5 reasons to use your own vehicle at Walt Disney World:
1. You control when you leave – You can get your party dressed and ready to go to the parks but once you get to the bus stop you are at the mercy of the arrival time of the next bus. Sometimes you can wait up to 20 minutes to board the bus. By taking your car, you control when you load and leave.
2. You can spread out – If you have a lot of gear including a stroller, it can be easier to load it in your car than it is to take it on the bus. If you didn’t park close to the entrance of the theme parks, you will have to take the tram to your parking spot which does require you to fold the stroller up. So this reason is not always a motivator for using your own vehicle.
3. You can leave property – If you don’t want to pay the high prices of Disney fund, there are plenty of options located just outside the gates of Disney. By driving your own car, you can head straight to a meal from the parks. I don’t recommend leaving the parks in the middle of the day to eat just to save money because it can be very time consuming.
4. You control the music – If you want to jam out on the drive back to your Disney resort, you can. You can also hold conversations amongst yourselves that won’t be overheard or even interrupted by other guests.
5. You can hop from park to park – It can be time consuming to hop from one park to another because sometimes those park to park buses do not run as frequently as resort buses. By having your own car, you can quickly hop from one park to another.
Keep in mind that if you are staying at a Disney resort, you do not have to pay for parking at the theme parks. Just show your parking pass or MagicBand (he’ll have to scan it) to the parking lot attendant to let him know you are a resort guest.
We will sometimes drive to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Epcot, but we always take the Disney buses to Magic Kingdom.

Last two trips we have stayed at the Poly and the Wilderness Lodge. We have our own car and drive to Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios every time. Just quicker and easier for us.

We live close enough that we drive to DW, but we don’t drive to the parks. I much prefer Disney transportation than driving. I don’t have to think about where to go, which turns to take, how tired I am while navigating back to the resort or finding a parking spot. For visits to MK, it is awful to drive as you have to get a parking spot, take a tram, take a boat or monorail, which takes up much more time than you would have taken waiting on the bus. To us, it is never better to drive.
