For someone who has never been to Disney World, may think it only contains rides for children. This is far from true, Disney World has some of the best thrill attractions found worldwide. Imagineers work tirelessly to perfect attractions for guests of all ages, including thrill seekers. Here are the 6 Best Thrill Rides At Disney World.
1. Avatar Flight of Passage
Avatar Flight of Passage contains similar technology to Soarin’ in Epcot, however more intense. Find Avatar Flight of Passage in Pandora – World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom. This ride gives guests the sensation of drops and sharp turns, with a 3D flying simulator. Guests must be 44″ or taller to ride. This thrill attraction is unique since guests are stationary, yet it is one of the best thrill attractions on property. Guests experience an incredible banshee’s-eye view, while flying on the back of their own banshee. Have you completed this important rite of passage?
2. Expedition Everest
Another thrill attraction is found in Animal Kingdom, in Asia. Guests must be 44″ tall to try and escape the Yeti on Expedition Everest. Take an adventure through the Himalayan mountains and climb Mt. Everest on a train style cart to find a broken track then, an 80 foot drop at 50mph. As if that is not thrilling enough, guests will experience this descend backwards.
3. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is found on Sunset Boulevard, this is the only attraction at Disney World that takes guests upside down during the attraction. The height requirement is a minimum of 48″. Guests take off on their own super stretch limo, and go from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds, with Aerosmith music blasting in the background. This attraction has all the thrill ride components, it’s fast, loud and features big drops. Loud may be an understatement with equipment such as: a 125-speaker, 24 sub-woofer and 32,000 watt audio system. Songs can vary from ride to ride, making each ride potentially unique from your last. The thrill seeker at Disney will have a rockin’ good time!
4. Space Mountain
At Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, guests will find a large dome that encompasses Space Mountain, an indoor roller coaster thrill ride. Guests must be 44″ to blast off into outer space on this attraction. Guests are seated in a rocket-shaped inspired cart (seating 3 each in a row). Fun fact, Space Mountain is NASA approved with help from the Mercury 9 and Gemini 5 astronaut Gordon Cooper on the creative team to bring this attraction to life. While top speed is not that impressive at only 27pmh, the darkness and light effects make it feel much faster.
5. Test Track
Test Track, found in Epcot, is not your typical thrill attraction since it has a low minimum height requirement of just 40″. However, it may surprise you that Test Track reaches the highest top speed of any attraction at Disney World. As previously mentioned, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith reaches top speeds of 60mph. However, Test Track reaches a top speed of 65mph.
6. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Pass by Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios and hear screams from current riders. Guests at least 40″ tall will enter the Twilight Zone on a haunted elevator ride. From supernatural imagery, to peering over Hollywood Studios from 13 stories up out a broken wall panel and then the drop itself – this ride features many thrilling components.
