Can you imagine running through Bahamian Paradise? It is possible for select Disney Cruise itineraries. Each stop at Castaway Cay features a 5K race for Disney Cruise guests. Here are tips and tricks for running through Paradise with the Castaway Cay 5K.
Guests ages 10+ can participate in the Castaway Cay 5K at no additional cost. Check your Personal Navigator to see when races are offered. Take advantage of this amazing Free opportunity and get some exercise at the same time. Then, feel less guilty for treating yourself to ice cream later.
Reserve Your Spot
Pre-registration is not accepted. Instead reserve your spot by visiting guest relations when you board your Disney Cruise ship. On the morning of the race, guests will typically meet up typically between 8-8:30am, with the race starting at 9am.
The Castaway 5K is not timed, making this 3.1 mile course a low-pressure and non-competitive run. Enjoy the beauty of the Bahamian island while you run, mainly along bike trails surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees, with some beach views.
There will be a couple water stations runners and walkers will encounter during their race. Stop by and stay hydrated.
All guests who complete will receive their Finisher Medal (it is made of rubber). This is a complimentary keepsake and is a fun reminder of your accomplishment. The design of the Finisher Medal changes yearly, however except fun Disney theming no matter what!
At the end of the race, there are Photographers standing by to take your photo. Proudly show off your Finisher Medal!
Near the Finish Line, shop exclusive commemorative merchandise such as hats, pins and t-shirts. If you see something you cannot live without, be sure to buy it then because this merchandise is not found on your Cruise ship!
Note, that the Castaway Cay 5K differs from the Castaway Cay Challenge for the Castaway Challenge Medal (the latter is exclusively for guests who participated in the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend). Where as the Castaway Cay 5K is offered to any guest on board a Disney Cruise ship visiting Castaway Cay.
